This is a thread for discussing movies we see in 2018. A bunch of them were released in 2017. Some were released long before that. But we are watchers, not releasers.
I just found out that Alamo Drafthouse is going to show the movie I picked for Graveyard Shift. I watched 40 Graveyard Shift movies, so I get to program one. I picked 1987's "Anguish", a Spanish film made to look like an American film, where Zelda Rubenstein hypnotizes Michael Lerner so he will slice up a bunch of eyeballs. Two years before "Debaser" and fifty eight after "Un Chien Andalou". I will get to go up in front of tierce and introduce it, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it. I'm very excited.

But I'm not going to start digging up the 2017 thread and other years to talk about those movies again. I'm a bit lazy it kinda easier to discuss them here or maybe a create a new thread to separate everything.

Boredom? Curiosity? A thirst for new experiences? Why does anyone watch any movie?
I have heard of this film but finally got around to see it last night. Which, came out in 2010 "I Love You Phillip Morris" starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor based on a true story. The movie is really good and one of Jim Carrey best performances.
It starts off with Jim being a normal straight married guy which he has a secret life. He likes being with men and told his religious wife that he gay and moved on with his life. Met couple of guys be and fell in love with one guy and enjoyed the luxurious lifestyle. Because Jim was a con-artist but he got caught and finally met the man of his life Phillip Morris played by Ewan McGregor.
They have some fun in prison and finally get out and Jim wants the luxurious life again with Ewan. So Jim becomes a Chief Financial Officer and steals money from the company. But unfortunately, everything catches up to him again. He gets caught thrown back in prison but escapes a few times because he wants to be with Ewan. Then Jim discovers he has AIDS and as he about to die. He does one last magic act and escapes because he never had AIDS and wasn't dying. He just wanted to be with lover again, so as he out in public a former co-worker sees him and once again gets thrown in prison. But this time a life sentence and has to be in his cell 23 hours a day. He lover Phillip Morris played by Ewan McGregor gets out in 2006.
I believe the movie was fantastic and should have been up for an award, I would give it 4.5 out of 5.

Last night I saw "Upgrade", a new film about a guy who gets a computer implant to make him walk again that turns him into a badass killing machine. Very disappointing. It had a great trailer, and an interesting premise, but it was poorly executed. We wanted to see him be a badass killing machine, but those scenes were not well choreographed. The acting was shockingly poor.
I need to see 3 more films before Thursday.

Huh, I am looking forward to that one. Hopefully I will feel differently. It looks like this year's version of Hardcore Henry and I loved that movie.
Bummer. I thought the trailer looked promising too.
