2017 Movies & Tv Show

i had very low expectations for wonder woman but it's looking like the critics like it. 92% on RT's like it or don't like it scale and 75% on metacritic's 1-100 scale.

i may need to check this one out in the theater.

also, gal gadot is particularly stunning:

That's one hot Israeli!

That's one hot Israeli!

even her name is hot. gal is the perfect name for a model and gadot sounds french and sexy. now if she looked like rosie o'donnell i'd probably be singing a different tune but who cares.

did a little research:

Gadot was born and raised in Rosh HaAyin, Israel.[9] In Hebrew, her first name means "wave" and her surname means "riverbanks".[10] She is the daughter of Irit (née Weiss), a teacher, and Michael Gadot, an engineer. Her parents were both born in Israel, and they had Hebraized their surname from "Greenstein" to "Gadot".[11]

"wave riverbanks" sounds like something gwyneth paltrow would name one of her kids.

I feel the same way about Mila Kunis, which is her actual birth name. It sounds like a sexual act or a female body part.

they had Hebraized their surname from "Greenstein" to "Gadot".
It's kind of sad that this is so common.
Ralph Lauren = Ralph Lifshitz,
Jon Stewart = Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz,
Bob Dylan = Robert Allen Zimmerman,
Woody Allen = Allan Stewart Konigsberg,
Albert Brooks = Albert Lawrence Einstein,
Andrew Dice Clay = Andrew Clay Silverstein,
Anthony Weiner = Anthony Weiner....... oops.

Here couple real celebrity names I googled:

Katy Perry = Katy Hudson
Michael Keaton = Michael Douglas

and my personal favorite

Olivia Wilde = Olivia Jane Cockburn

that part of the wiki was confusing to me. much like howard i am against changing your name if the sole purpose is to sound less ethnic. if it is due to the name being horribly difficult to pronounce than i am more understanding. but it's not her fault, her parents did it. shit i have to go through life explaining to everyone "jan" is actually "yon" but i've never thought of changing it. english speakers don't struggle to pronounce "yon", it's just the explanation that's annoying. despite it being a shit name if you live outside the netherlands, i'm proud to carry on my family's tradition.

the part that confused me was that her name was "hebraized". i looked it up and hebraized means to make comfortable to the hebrew people and spirit. that sounds to me like her folks were trying to make it more jewish, not less. i figured since they were from israel it must be different over there. while "greenstein" sounds jewish to american ears, "gadot" must sound more jewish to israeli ears. but i guess that's wrong?

either way, who cares. morals are for regular looking people. when you look like this:

you can pretty much do whatever you want and it's completely acceptable.

I'll admit to not being familiar with the term "hebraized", but to a layman, changing Greenstein to Gadot is an obvious attempt to remove the "jewishness". The fact that her parents did it means I don't hold anything against her (though I'd love to hold something against her).

But the name change doesn't fool some people
'Wonder Woman' banned in Lebanon because lead actress is Israeli - Jun. 1, 2017

you two have lost your marbles.

besides her cameo in that godawful batman movie i've never seen this woman act and yet somehow i know she is the perfect fit for literally any role ever. she gives any current leading lady a run for her money in the looks department. (i may be a bit infatuated.)

this is not the look of an unhealthy woman. she has the tall slender physique of a model.

side note: is wonder woman the one with the invisible plane? i always thought that was a dumb ride for a superhero.
