I saw "Green Room" at the Alamo Friday night. I enjoyed it very much, on different levels.

Alamo runs 30 minutes of videos related to the movie before the previews, and they always out a lot of thought into them. They topped themselves with this one:

The video is highly relevant to "Green Room", and on top of that, the video was filmed at the Ritz Theater in Austin, which is now an Alamo Drafthouse.

the director of that made one of my favorite movies from 2013...blue ruin. if you liked green room check out blue ruin. its a gritty, realistic revenge flick.

there is this one scene where the main character gets an arrow in his leg. now in so many movies you see the guy grimace while he pulls it out. in blue ruin you see the guy attempt to yank it out and its clearly too painful so cut to the hospital where he gets it out by pros. idk, small stuff like that was part of what made me love the movie.

just saw the new jason bateman starring/directed 'the family fang'. its about a brother and sister who grew up with wacky performance art parents and then as adults the parents go missing and they struggle with if its another piece of theirs or really an abduction.

its not good. bateman makes anything better so its not awful but i didnt really enjoy it. a bit of a slog.

it just came out on vod and in a few theaters is you want to see for yourself.

The Bag family is going to see "Dou Kyu Sei Classmates" tonight at the Alamo. It's a "boy love"/yaoi anime about straight guys who fall in gay love for each other. We're all excited because it's our first yaoi film. Also I get a free pizza.

hmm...looks interesting. as a general rule im not a fan of anime but that looks like it could be cool.

on another note i was thinking of you when i figured out that drafthouse has a whole line of movies they put out. ive already seen a few of them but i guess it never registered that they were drafthouse movies. so my point here is that it seems every drafthouse released movie is worth at least a glance. they dont really put out any major clunkers. and now knowing this i have a list of like 20 movies to watch.
