Ike came through Houston shortly after my wife moved in. She's ultra vigilant about tropical storms, so she told me to get some supplies at the grocery store. She laughed and laughed when I came home with Poptarts (more than 2 boxes).

Ike knocked out our power for 2 weeks. After a couple of days of eating stuff you can eat without power, she realized the joy of a Poptart after a storm.

We've been running the air conditioner on full blast so that if the power goes out, it would take longer for it to get uncomfortably warm in here. Well it got so cold in here, the cold temperatures kept waking me up last night

Not complaining. It could be so much worse. Still a lot of wind and rain. Just staying inside watching The Shawshank Redemption on AMC.

We visited the real Shawshank Prison (Ohio Reformatory) where the movie was filmed last week. Nothing to do with your post or the hurricane but thought I would throw it in.

Stay safe.

Right now this looks to be heading well north of me but with the week I'm having it will turn south and hit me dead (get it?) on and flood my place and blow off the roof.

It's early enough that the cone covers from the northern keys to Georgia but people are already preparing down here. I just got gas and there was a line. Then I went to Publix and had to wait in a long checkout line there too. I got a bunch of canned meals and Gatorade plus I have a bunch of nuts and cereal and peanut butter from my Dad's place so I'm set. Hopefully it stays north. The perfect scenario for me is that I get to watch a fun storm but don't lose power. If the direct path stays how it is right now that may be the case but it always changes when we are this far out.
