The background singers on Lay Down Sally were not credited. They are Marcy Levy (who co-wrote the song with Eric Clapton and George Terry) and Yvonne Elliman, whose 1970s hits include I Don't Know How To Love Him, If I Can't Have You, Love Me and a remake of Barbara Lewis's Hello Stranger. Here is a live performance from 2013 at Madison Square Garden:

Benny Bell (real name: Benjamin Samberg) wrote Shaving Cream in 1946. Paul Wynn (real name: Phil Winston) was the first to record the song. It appeared as the B-side of the 78-rpm single Automobile Song, released on Bell's Cocktail Party Songs label (#202). Bell recorded his own version in 1946. Wynn's version was re-released in 1975 by Vanguard Records after it was played several times on Dr. Demento's syndicated radio program – but the label erroneously credited Benny Bell as the singer.

The Cats, a Netherlands septet led by Piet Veerman, recorded Shaving Cream for their album Colour Us Gold, released in December 1969.

The uncredited woman who did the moaning and groaning on Love Won't Let Me Wait is Barbara Ingram. She sang background vocals on recordings by Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Lou Rawls, the Spinners, the Stylistics and many other artists. The Lettermen also recorded the song – and ruined it. The Anita Kerr Singers also recorded the song – and ruined it. Johnny Mathis & Deniece Williams also recorded the song – and ruined it. Nancy Wilson recorded the song for her 1994 Love, Nancy album – and did not ruin it. Randy Waldman is the pianist. This reached #31 on Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart for the week ending June 25, 1994.
