Friday night Memegirl and I saw "Death Line", an early 70s British horror film with a very silly Donald Pleasance, the guy who played "Norm" in "Hard Days Night" and Christopher Lee awkwardly cut into one scene. It's about a clan of cannibals living in the subway system. We both thought it was kind of lame.
Last night I saw a 4k restoration of "Suspiria", the much loved classic of 70s Italian horror. I'm officially giving up on 70s Italian horror. Aside from some interesting set designs, it was just boring.
Horror films never scare me. Comedies can make me laugh. Dramas can make me cry. Suspense can make me tense, but that's entirely empathy for characters in the film. I'm never personally frightened by anything happening on screen.
