Monday night Memegirl and I saw "Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk". It was very good, but also very long. 2.5 hours of the evolution of punk in the small cities east of San Francisco.

Las night I saw "Effects", a low budget horror film shot in 1978 about people making a low budget horror film that might actually be a snuff film. Not a perfect film, but fascinating with a great score and some brilliant sequences. The people who made it had worked with George Romero before.

Last night Memegirl and I saw "A Ghost Story". We both liked it, but agreed it's best seen in a theater. On TV we would be too tempted to be distracted by other stuff. Very slow movie. Actually showed paint drying at one point. It was like "Wings of Desire" made out of anti-matter.

I haven't seen Spider-Man yet and wanted to see that today but my Sweets told me that this was the opening weekend for The Glass Castle and that sounded better so we went to see that. It was a good story. Woody Harrelson is a quietly good actor. I seem to always like his stuff.

Maybe I'll see Spider-Man Sunday before it is gone

Not really 2017 movies, but this weekend I did watched couple of movies I never seen before. Like Passengers, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and had to rewatch the Conjuring and Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

I did enjoy Passengers, even though it didn't do well in theaters. I haven't seen any of the new Planet of the Apes movies yet. I should have seen Rise first, but Dawn was on tv and it was really good. Now I need to catch Rise one day.

Passengers wasn't great but I watched it because I'm a sucker for space movies and it turned out to be better than I expected after seeing the reviews.

I had about the same reaction to Passengers.

Watched Get Shorty in EPIX last night. That wasn't too bad. I'll watch some more.

I like some space movies and personally the only company that can make good space movies is Disney with Star Wars and Marvel.

In the past few years, there has been quite a few space movies like:

Gravity, Passangers, Interstellar, The Martian and the new Star Trek which are alright.

I'm talking about movies taking place in space, even though Interstellar first hour takes place on earth. I don't count Arrival and District 9, in this category. Yea spaceships, but they are on Earth the whole time.

This sentence hurts my soul.

Gravity, Passangers, Interstellar, The Martian and the new Star Trek which are alright.

To me Interstellar and The Martian are 5 star movies. The new Star Treks are pretty good.

Off the top of my head, some fantastic space movies not made by Disney:

2001
Moon
Elysium
Europa Report
Apollo 13
Fifth Element
Starship Troopers

And I'm sure there are a whole lot more I'm leaving out.

Well my movie knowledge isn't big when I can think of stuff will fast. Of coarse, I should have mention 2001 and Apollo 13, those films are great.

The others, I have never seen well beside Starship Troopers that a comedy classic next to Tremors. The first one good, the rest were bad. Another one I can think of is Armageddon, but that not in the same league as 2001, Apollo and Star Wars.

I'm currently working on a post about some classic movies. But I'm currently on break and I'll probably post it here on my lunch break.

You gotta check out Moon. David Bowie's kid directed it before he decided to take the big payday for that trash Warcraft movie and it's really, really good.

100% agree.

I probably mention it before, but I don't buy dvd's and blu ray's anymore. Because I like to watch my movies either on Netflix or iTunes. I been trying to expand my movie variety to tons of different categories beside, action pack, comics, comedy, etc for the past couple of years.

So I have an app, which lets me know when there are good movies on sale with iTunes. So I been buying some classic movies little by little, which I have never seen or I have seen and/or heard about on tv or from a friend/family member. Like mafia/gangsters movies, Hitchcock films, Rocky series, really old classics like Citizen Cane, Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, etc.

So this may sound crazy, but I have bought most of those films above, which again I may have never seen. But whenever they are on sale for like 4.99 - 9.99. I usually go on buying spree and have bought really great classics films. So I have nearly over 700 digital movies and I have sold all of my old DVD's, which I have inherited from my family and plus they were taking up tons of space in a cabinet or book shelf. I still have a list of about 300 more movies to buy, whenever they are on sale.

Currently on sale in iTunes are the old classic monster universe movies, like mummy, dracula, Frankenstein, etc. which I will probably buy this Friday and those I have never seen either, but I want them and will watch all of movies one of these days.

100% agree.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check out Moon and some others you suggest one day.

Like the post I posted above. I basically want to get into better conversations on checking out some new stuff. Like earlier this, I finally got around watching all of the Aliens movies and some other franchises, which I can't recall right now.

Also I wish, I would have posted something like months ago. Because I may have past up on some great deals. Like last week on sale for 4.99 on iTunes was The Social Club. I was thinking of buying it, but I missed my opportunity, because I want to own good and classic movies. Whenever I may watch it or have people over and want to watch a movie.

But either way, I read some reviews on the social club and it was an ok movie, has anyone here seen it?

Also currently on sale on iTunes are couple other classics like Meatballs and Throw Momma From The Train, which I'm debating on buying or not?
