Tonight I saw "Jungle Trap", a previously unreleased film shot on VHS in 1990 from the creator of "Don't Go In the Woods". It was just awful. I saw it because I was going to a 9:30 show so I had time to kill after work and it was only $1.

The 9:30 show was "The Little Hours" and it was great. The trailer made it look like just a one joke raunchy nun comedy, but it's much better. It's based on "The Decameron" and translates the spirit of that work to a modern audience. I highly recommend it.

I watched The Thing last night and loved it! It made me realize that there are many Carpenter movies that I have either never seen or all I remember is the general premise and am not sure if I saw them at some point or just know about them since they are in the zeitgeist. So I'm going on a Carpenter movie tear. I watched Dark Star today and that one is not good. The comedy didn't do it for me. Now I'm onto Assault on Precinct 13. I'm going to try and watch all his movies.

I keep track of the movies I watch every year and I rate them 1-5. I'm going to post my ratings of the Carpenter movies as I see them.

The Thing: 4.5
Dark Star: 2

Here is the trailer for The Shape of Water that I was talking about a couple days ago.

Interesting that the trailer was out in theaters before the internet. I've haven't seen that before.

Just rewatched The Dark Knight. Easily in my all time top 5.

I saw "War for the Planet of the Apes". There was no war. "Sneakin' Around for the Planet of the Apes" would be a better title. What's the deal with apes and "Apocalypse Now" homages? It started slow and slowed down. Beautiful, perfect effects. Dull.

I saw it last Tuesday. I thought it was boring until Woody showed up. Then it started making a little sense and got a little more interesting. But I won't be renting that one on Amazon. I did get free popcorn, the hot dog special and the night off so it wasn't a total loss. I have this Tuesday night off too so maybe we can see another movie with free popcorn.

Ready Player One looks bad! I was hoping it would be Spielberg's comeback movie cause I like the book so much but it looks awful.

I thought I the trailer for Ready Player One looks interesting, even though I don't know what it is about.

I like seeing the DeLorean in some kind and of race.

I believe Spielberg comeback movie is called The Washington Papers? starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks which is suppose to be an Oscar awarding winning movie?

Sunday night Memegirl and I went to a dinner party at the Alamo. They showed "Goodfellas" and served a four course Italian dinner. Caprese salad, roast garlic with olive tapenade on crostini, baked ziti and tiramisu. The wait staff dressed up for it, the paper napkins were replaced with cloth, and they had little LED tea lights on the tables. Great movie and the food was incredible. I just finished my baked ziti when they had to dig up Billy Batts.

I think I'm going to get my dad to see Dunkirk with me tomorrow. Now this is a big deal because that man NEVER goes to the movies. The last one he went to was the Fathom event Faust opera in January of 2012. He told me he'll see how he feels in the morning and let me know. I ask him to go with me all the time and usually it's a flat out "no" so this is very promising.
