Your top five bands?

My fave's rotate quite a bit, but if pressured, I'd have to go with something like:

Sex Pistols
Descendents
Iron Maiden
Naked Raygun
Nevermore

I mostly listen to metal these days, but punk and alternative music is what really connected with me when I was younger. The older I get, the heavier the music in my playlist gets. :D

Nah, not too wimpy. It's hard to pick a favorite band. I like singles and albums a lot more than a band's entire collective output. But, if I had to pick:

1. R.E.M. (pre-Out of Time)
2. The Beatles (especially Abbey Road)
3. Indigo Girls (eponymous release one of the best folk rock albums ever)
4. U2 (solely for the Joshua Tree, the best rock album of the 80's)
5. 106 tied for 5th. :p

I like this album, though I tend to not like much after it - listened to it recently, and it didn't seem to lose anything for me. Granted, "Shiny Happy People" can be a bit much... just curious what you don't like about it.

I have R.E.M and U2,joshua tree is dam good.:yesshake:

2. The Rolling Stones
3. The Clash
4. Black Sabbath
5. U2 or The Pixies (probably U2...the Pixies lacked staying power)

I can't believe that IJ and myself were the only ones that names Sabbath. Without them, heavy metal doesn't exist. Shame on all of you!

If I'm to include non-rock guys then Miles Davis and John Coltrane would be #1 and #2.

I prefer Dio Sabbath :)

But that being said, while their influence is undeniable, I think I prefer the music that they paved the way for rather the music they themselves made. For me, it's the same with The Beatles - while their stamp on pop music was gigantic, I personally don't like them very much. I respect those bands for what they made possible, but prefer what came after.
