What's new in version 1.17?

Firmware Update for the Skydock Hardware. Absolutely nothing reported as to what it exactly addresses in the hardware.

I am hoping this resolved the Skydock's tendency not to always reconnect when you shut off your vehicle and then start it back up. Sometimes the Skydock software will not reconnect with the docks hardware.

We shall see I will test it out!

Update: In my preliminary testing I'd say YES this issue was addressed! Time will tell.

Typical SiriusXM. They release a new gadget and forget all about the old one. I don't think I need to say which device i'm specifically referring to, do I? ;)

Well there are several, shall we name them one by one! LOL

I must say I did more testing on this Skydock Firmware update today. I took a 6 hour trip today and used my Skydock the whole time. I made several stops along the way. Each time the Skydock started playing again without fail. In the past I would have had to manually power down the dock to get it to sync with the XM Skydock software and start playing again.

This is a great improvement!

Mine has not offered this update. Is there a trick involved in initiating the upgrade?

Download the XM Skydock Software onto your iPhone or iPod Touch, insert it in the dock and it will do it stuff. Lease that is how it worked on mine.

Duh, I thought I had the most recent version of the app. Guess not. Thank you for the slap up side the head :)

Now that I've been using this update for awhile. I can report that the issue of the software and the hardware reconnecting is much better, but it still occasionally does not reconnect. I have found that restarting the iPod Touch or iPhone at least once a week will help with this. Heck I sometimes go a month or so without restarting it as I never need too.

So, overall a good update and one that I recommend, but the reconnection thing isn't totally fixed.

Slightly unrelated, but I noticed the Skydock app is listed in 'Staff Favorites' in the iTunes store.

How unacceptable it must be for you to have to reboot your hardware once a week to make it work.

Totally acceptable, I reboot my phone daily.. always have (AT&T Network thing), but not out of hardware necessity there is a big difference. I haven't lost any recordings or had to do a restore every 3 months like someone else I know. Oh that's right your last one took a shit and you had to totally replace it. Nevermind! hehehe :egypt: (Just having some fun with you IRBS)

Also I said it was helpful, not that you absolutely have too. Generally on my iPod Touch I'd go 3 or 4 months without restarting that thing. Try that with your Stiletto DAWG!

Actually, I know several people whose iPods have died within 2 years too. Its the price paid for having them manufatured by 7 year old boys in China.

(and don't worry. I don't take anything you say too seriously. :) )

I am sure that some have had iPod's die just like any other electronic out there. Quality is certainly not what it use to be in this day of mass production of electronics.

None the less I'd put my iPod Touch and iPhone up against your one trick pony Stiletto as someone else said in another thread. I like that! One trick pony! hehehe

Anyway we are getting way of topic now!

Bottom line is this new firmware update has improved the XM Skydock hardware and software connectivity and that my friend is what it is all about.
