C2C Back on Sirius/XM! - Coast to Coast AM

From Art Bell Quits Dark Matter

First of all my sincere congrats to Premiere Radio, they made the right move. Business is War
and I would have done the same exact thing, and did in my day.

Second, given the same circumstances I would make the same decision again today about Dark
Matter. There is much you do not know and I will not talk about because it was given in confidence
and I am kind of old school so I will not talk about those things even though it would help you to
understand my decision.

Third, I would love it if Sirius/XM would waive my NC but they said no and even though I could run
out and get a Lawyer and perhaps win back my freedom I will most likely not do that. If I were ten
Years younger it might be a different story, I will say this, It seems crazy as hell to me that we offered
exactly what Premiere ended up taking. Now Sirius/XM has a show that will be mostly commercials and
seems much less a good fit than Dark Matter with a Host who thinks a Typhoon in Vietnam causes rain
in Hawaii. (Last night's show, first hour)

Fourth and finally I would like to say sorry to the people who did come over either by Radio or the less
than stellar streaming, trust me I understand your anger, I only wish you had enough information to
understand my decision.

Art Bell

At the end of the day.. Like him or not, Noory will be at his job.

The other good thing about this is that it puts C2CAM on Sirius radios and streaming. We didn't have that before.

Art does have a point. Sirius replaced him with a show that not only does its own live stream but can be heard on any terrestrial radio.

I'm sure Premiere is paying Sirius/XM to air C2C. I would love to know what really happened with Art Bell. It sounds like He pissed off the wrong person or something unless you believe Premiere sabotaged the Art Bell show in order to get C2C back on Sirius/XM.

Sounds like SXM had more disgruntled listeners from losing Clear Channels especially Coast to Coast than new listeners coming onboard for Art Bell. A disgruntled Art Bell may have been the perfect solution to bring back Coast to Coast.

Just guessing. Too bad about the Art Bell situation.

I think it was Art. He signed a contract and then, a month later, decided, "Wait! I have a better idea!"

He seems most disgruntled with how C2CAM was handled by Noory. I'm sort of with him to an extent but another side of me thinks, "Ok.. Get over it and do a better show."

That's not what SiriusXM signed a contract for with Art. They signed for him to sit in a chair and do a show for them for 4 hours a night 4 nights a week. That was the contract. If I were them, after only a month and having do deal with him being done, I would have not done business with him again, either.

What they ended up with after doesn't matter. What mattered was the agreement that they signed. What if Art hadn't had the 'let's stream it' idea and SiriusXM went to him after the first month and said, "You know that contract we signed? Here's what we want. You do the show for free, figure out how to stream it and we'll carry it on satellite." Art would have been rightfully mad because that's not the contract he signed. The rest of us would have been rightfully annoyed at SiriusXM for pulling the rug out from under Art.

It just happened the other way.

O&A used to do a terrestrial show, then walk to their XM studio & do their XM show. I wonder why they can't do that for Art? :scatch:
