The biggest thing it is missing is XP mode (I use it as a virtual machine so I can be on multiple Cisco VPNs at the same time). It doesn't come with the windows version but rather it is an additional download. However, XP mode doesn't work with home premium (according to MS but you can actually download it so I'm not sure if it is possible to install/use it or not). Also I believe HP is missing the backup and restore functionality.
 
I've never needed XP mode. I can't think of anything I use in Windows Enterprise that isn't in Home Premium.
 
I am not sure why people need anything other than HP unless it is in a corporate environment. Even then I can only see XP mode and the domain switcher to be useful but even those won't be used by probably 95+% of the users. I just started using XP mode after a client showed it to me. I kept bitching that they started using a VPN so I couldn't be in their system and another clients' system at the same time. They got tired of hearing me bitch so they showed me how to do it provided both were using Cisco. Now I can be in 3 at the same time provided one of them is my Detroit customer because they use Aventail.

I use XP mode for my Canadian clients because none of them allow access to my local network (meaning all of the communication goes through their servers) which disables printing on my networked printers and it also means that all web address (well most) get routed to the .CA version.

OTOH, if you're a horny old 65 year old male looking to get off to porn and send an occasional email, you may not need advanced feature, so why not save some noney and buy a lighter version?

Meanwhile, if you're a 32 year old, running a home network, fully integrated into your home AV system, you may need more features.

More features = more money. Don't charge for what you're not selling.

Would a restaurant charge everyone for the $9.99 buffet when they may want nothing more than a side salad and glass of water?
