When is the confirmed date when and which CC stations going away?

If this ends up being true I will be done with XM radio and selling my 2 lifetime subs. The channels being removed are what I listen to 80% of the time and I can't see how they can remove all these channels at the same time with out having decent replacement channels. :bluemad:

Ok, so I'm not sure what the middle one would be named, but you know...the fake stuff like Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne, the newer Green Day, Blink 182, etc. The other option would be stuff like The Buzzcocks, The Misfits, MxPx, NoFx, The Sex Pistols, X, Rancid, The Ramones, old-school Green Day, etc.

Someone on the other forum group said that maybe the new on line channels could possibly be a placeholder for when CC is gone 8/28?- time will tell soon enough.

I could have swore FOX Talk was already on SiriusXm :confused:

It was but was taken down in Jan:

FNC and Sirius XM satellite radio are close to a deal to bring Fox News Talk Radio back to its lineup. Sirius dropped the channel in January after they failed to come to terms on a carriage agreement.

Since we might have some changes around the corner, I thought we could have a thread discussing possible new channels.

Hope its a joke- would be a waste of BW- and would not make sense between Symphony Hall and Kids Place.

So we know CC is going away around 8/28 and may open up more BW: rumors of Fox Talk returning, and Fox Business launching, Fly was rumored to go on Satellite, possibly the new internet stations launched recently maybe also available on satellite. Piolin radio on the latino end, anything else?

Just noticed they updated the channel directory on the website for the recent updates with the logos for Rural TV, bein Sport, Kirk Franklin Praise, Progress, and the 5 Internet only channels launched a few weeks ago.

Still lists CC so hopefully next week will be updated again for the takedowns

XM Satellite Radio to lose Clear Channel stations

Several satellite radio channels operated by Clear Channel will soon disappear from Sirius XM after the broadcaster sold its stake in the company.

According to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 1, Clear Channel sold its shares of Sirius XM for $135.5 million last quarter.

Clear Channel and Sirius XM declined to comment on the sale.

Clear Channel made a $83.1 million investment in XM Satellite Radio in 1999, which gave the company partial control of XM’s satellite bandwidth. Clear Channel used its bandwidth to program commercially-supported radio stations when XM launched in 2001.

Clear Channel continued to operate stations on the XM service when XM merged with Sirius in 2008. Clear Channel stations were never offered on the Sirius platform, and the company decided to stop programming satellite-specific channels in 2011, opting to simulcast several over-the-air stations instead.

Clear Channel’s sale of its shares of Sirius XM brings in a $52.4 million return on investment over 14 years.

Several stations programmed by Clear Channel are expected to be removed from the XM platform soon, according to reports. XM customers will no longer be able to hear simulcasts of WLTW New York, WSIX Nashville and WGCI Chicago. Customers will also lose Sixx Sense, FOX Sports Radio, Talk Radio and Extreme Talk, which will result in the removal of Glenn Beck and Dave Ramsay’s radio shows from the satellite service. XM is expected to continue simulcasts of WHTZ New York and KIIS Los Angeles, though it’s unclear how long those will continue to be available.

It is also unclear if Sirius XM will use the relinquished bandwidth to increase the bitrate of existing channels to give existing channels better audio quality, or if Sirius XM will launch new channels.

Most of the stations expected to be removed from the XM platform can be heard nationally on Clear Channel’s streaming radio service iHeartRadio.
