Week Of 12/4: Live!

The Chinese clock shop was a classic bit...if even overplayed.

The Marianne from Brooklyn hater...correct or not?

Correct. I can't understand MfB for three reasons. #1. Her voice. #2. Her cell phone reception. #3 She filibusters while yelling loudly. All three means I honestly can't understand what she's saying, therefore it's white noise to me.

I think years ago she had a landline that was clear, and Howard could have actual dialogue with her. Those days, she was okay. Not anymore.

And I hate the card she and Bobo play when other callers criticize them, the "Hater" card. Give me a break! These are marginal radio show callers that for some reason, Howard is fond of listening to them. Get some perspective, people.

I immediately skip over cat rescue talk and MfB. I know the annoying voice is the shtick, but it's the extended sucking-up that's not worth it for me.

I think Howard is shocked through and through that Richard dared to take a month paternity leave. First Howard declared that Richard would not be on a future panel to pick bits to be played on a Thursday show since it was clear he was not needed. Then he tried to show how disloyal Richard was to Sal for not inviting Sal to his apartment to view the new baby...and on like that. That theme continued yesterday upon Richard's return. He grilled him on the alleged Sal slight. He blasted Richard for renting a one bedroom apartment. (If you want to live in Manhattan folks, you now need a lot of money to rent a two bedroom apartment.) Richard maintained his cool. He said he wanted to protect the baby from infections brought in by visitors. True, a one-bedroom was a hardship but he was so thrilled with the baby he did not mind. Keep on truckin' Richard. You are a mensch.

I think there's some truth to that.

On to today's show, what was the deal with the 1/2 hour long call from some math guy? I saw no reason for it. This was followed by the news, with Howard constantly alternating between live commercial reads and blasting Robin's theme. I had to shut it off.

She's one of those "safe calls" that Howard likes so much because it pads his ego. IMO, she's in the same category as Eric from Hoboken or Tommy from Malden. They're not wack packers, but they found that frequent schmoozing is a way to frequently talk to Howard.

The opposite end of callers are the "Steve in Baltimore" (random person, random city) type who Howard ends up yelling at and hanging up on.

Marfan Mike has such a perfect Wack Pack look:

Next week preview??

Jimmy Fallon just said that tomorrow is SantaCon in NYC. A bunch of people dress up in Santa suits and go on a bar crawl.

Meanwhile...Richard gave up drinking (en masse? totally?), so I guess we can look forward to Wolfie??

The party is over for Richard. He has to act like an adult now.

From 12/6 right before 8:15:

"Howard said the drops Fred is using are hysterical. Howard said he was wondering where the ''4 inches is fine'' came from. Howard said Robin was talking about something other than penis. Gary said he was talking about his kids using the iPhone and watching movies on it. Robin said 4 inches is fine when he mentioned the size of the screen. Howard laughed when Fred played the drop again. Howard said there are guys in the back who just get stuff like that for the show."
