Every day, Robin says several things that contradict what she had previously said. She supposedly listens to The Coffee House on SXM all the time, but when someone played songs by the most popular artists on there, Robin mocked them, saying "who the hell ever heard of them?". She stopped eating meat, fish, even grains and beans, but now she eats all of that. Her stance on gun control flips constantly, and look at her hobbies: she races cars, she doesn't race cars; she has a boat, she doesn't have a boat; she has horses, or not.

Howard and Beth are going together to get matching tattoos, to remember their cat Apple, who passed a little while back.

didnt they already do that when they got married? i thought they both got something on their finger instead of wedding rings.

a lot of times when howard bitches i like it cause he makes it funny but the argument is silly. im listening to mondays show and phone bitching is not one of these times. hes by far the most important show on sirius and he only does 12 hours a week, you would think that making basic things like the phone lines run properly would be a top priority.

I know it wouldn't even be close, but I'd like to see HPE against Joey Chestnut.

(Hint: Body fat reduces stomach expansion capabilities, but it'd be fun. Then again, with animal-lover Howard, I'm sure they'd be some sort of soy product.)

Listened to portions of the Mayim Bialik interview, Denis Leary interview and History of Sal. My thoughts (since nothing much is happening here), this Mayim Bialik is so full of herself. She really needed to be knocked down by Howard. Denis Leary could have been a good interview.. actually was a good interview but could have been better if Howard would have stop interrupting him! Leary can tell an interesting story and make it quick but Howard kept cutting him off. Hated it! The History of Sal just proves the obvious point that Sal plays stupid to get air time. I can see a History of Beetlejuice or History of Hank because those guys were for real. But why put on a history of guy who says outrageous, stupid things to get air time? If you going to do it, it should be entitled The Comic Stylings of Sal.

I started the "bad acting" thread because of Sal. For some reason, it seems more obvious these days that he's acting. And I also agree that Howard kept interrupting Denis Leary, not sure why.

Howard considers himself the most interesting person in the room. This explains his interruptions. If he was actually interested, he would listen. I can also think of times where he blows past a potential bombshell, and Robin has to pull him back to it. He does these interviews on autopilot.

I think one of the differences between Howard's old interviews and his more recent ones, is that now he gets fed with all this background info. So he's trying to lead a conversation, while simultaneously reading bio notes. Obviously, he didn't know much about Denis Leary's career before the guy walked in, so Howard's asking questions, and while Denis answers, Howard's looking at the notes to figure out how to work the next topic into the conversation, or he's trying to rephrase Leary's response to fit into the flow of the notes.

I think that's why he's always apologizing for bouncing all over the place with topics, it's because all the topics are there on a piece of paper (or computer screen) at one time. In a natural, organic conversation, you wouldn't be bouncing around, you let each topic come to a conclusion. In a way, Howard's notes are not much different than Bobo's.

I have said this before. Howard once said that he prides himself on "pacing" the interview. That, to me, means pride in moving it along, not letting the stars tell long, boring stories. That would be fine if he paced judiciously. But he does not. It's true that at times he does not seem to be listening. I have heard him do it to the great Alec Baldwin. WTF? One guy he cannot do it to is the great Jerry Seinfeld. Just one time I would like an interviewee (like Baldwin) say: "Howard. I am fan. I listen to your interviews. You have a bad habit of cutting off people. Please do not do that to me."

To his credit, I also think a reason he bounces around is to disarm the interviewee. He'll touch on a juicy topic, and if he gets resistance, he'll go somewhere else. Once they loosen up, he may go back. That's fair, but he usually isn't paying much attention, and like you said, trying to "shape" the interview to conform to the notes.

With all the talk about the annoying callers...what ever happened to Sean the White Rapper? It was strongly believed that Dr. Remulak was a friend of Stuttering John and that was before my time, but he couldn't have added too much.
