Besides the lack of cursing and more local flavor, is it really so different that you can't stand to listen?

It's not an indictment on you or anyone else that only listens on Friday/doesn't listen at all anymore, I'm just genuinely curious whenever someone says this. It's the same ballbusting atmosphere with great interaction between the guys which I figured is what people listened for. There's still plenty of great radio, despite the show being dumbed down for FM. Hell, you could record it and fast forward through whatever you aren't interested in. There's still shades of the old show in those three hour blocks of time.

It just seems to me a lot of listeners were more fans of the format and the uncensored content, then they were of the personalities on the show and wanting to hear what they had to say. And a lot of the time I enjoy the FM product much more than random whore X being in the studio on Fridays. Luckily, I think Bubba got the message on that last point.

It's not just the lack of cursing. The fact that they know they can't just say whatever pops into their minds in that moment affects the whole vibe of the show.
 
I'm often surprised by the stuff they are able to get away with on the FM show. That and the inclusion of the uncensored bits and FM dumps ends up being pretty close, IMO.

Anyway, Miller was funny as shit today. That's why Brent got pissed. Well, that and the Jack. THAT'S MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I was just about tearing up from laughter after he kept smashing Miller's jingle, Miller's zingin' and Brent was stu-stu-stuttering.

Bubba's such a nut They plugged "Angry Jack Brent" for days but when he gets "angry", Bubba gets pissy. It's OK to lose control, but only in a controlled fashion and even though you're drunk and out of control, you should be aware of what you're doing... ?

I think it's a mix of several things why people are honked.
1) He's not live.
2) He's somewhat censored. Yes, they send up the original tape and cut in the uncut stuff where they can, but if Ned can't fucking say cocksucker fucking balls hairy penis cocksucker motherfucker every five minutes, it's not good fucking radio, motherfucker.
3) Bubba said he'd be "back in some capacity." Apparently some of the fans set themselves up to assume that "capacity" meant "live." To some of the fans, i'm guessing this felt more of an ass-raping.
4) Show content, such as Hootie, racing, etc. I'm guessing these fans were probably going to go elsewhere anyway.

What I don't get is when fans say they like to hear the "guys just talk guy-talk and shoot the breeze" then when the BRN sits around and takes phone calls, it's "Bubba phoning it in, not putting together any content, he's boring, etc." Maybe this is a testament to the size of his audience...you can't please everyone all the time and someone, somewhere is going to bitch up a storm.
 
The "Jed" call... OMG. And the guy who called in later saying that "Jed" sounded like Ned. OMG, dude, learn how to work.

That's one of the key things I miss, I liked hearing them react to whatever was going on in the national news at that very minute. It was usually just a stupid car chase or something some politician just said on TV or whatever, but they would make an interesting and funny bit out of it. Not quite the same if it's something that happened earlier in the day or something in Florida I could care less about.
 
For me it's the not live factor but mostly I'm not a fan of the local stuff, I get it though the show isn't really meant for us in that way.
And the number one reason Hootie, yup hootie it seemed like everytime I give him a listen it seemed like hootie was on. It got tiring and I gave up.
 
The lack of a live show definitely sucks. I'm usualy 2-3 days behind on the recordings of Ellis that I listen to and it's not as good as live.
 
This was the 1st Bubba show I've listened to in its entirety...I was hooked right from the start..The drinking just got better and better...I even liked Ralph on the show...

The funny thing is, sometimes I forget he's not live.

Commenting on the news was good stuff though. Sometimes, I'd actually watch the same newscast as them and follow along.

As for the Florida-centric, as far as I care, it's where they are, so naturally, they're going to talk about Florida stuff. Howard talks about the NY Post, the NY weather, etc. because he's in NY. Ellis is in LA, right? I'm sure he occasionally talks about LA stuff. (And that may be why part of the reason why Bubba's ratings in Dayton and Virgina(?) stink.)
 
The Aftermath of this was funny today too.

Brent was still pretty upset and it sounds like he had a horrible weekend because of all of this.

I hope they don't let it die and I hope Bubba tries to keep the therapy sessions on the air.
