I think there's a point during the question that you can buzz in, but you don't get called until the question is finished. That's all the time they need.

There's also the compound questions, where you have to put multiple things together to answer. Like the name mashups. They had a category where the question gave a clue to a person, and then you had to use the initials as roman numerals, and then convert that to a number.

You usually see players buzz in fast then pause for a second before they start to answer, then they drag their words out to try to stretch it out long enough for the full answer to hit their heads.

There is zero delay between when she buzzes, gets, picked, then busts out the answer.

The recall is instant.
