I almost forgot about this 32 years ago on Jan 28th, 1986 the space shuttle Challenger exploded. I remember watching the live launch in school when that happened.

When I was letting my dog out this morning, I did see the very bright super moon. Then when I was walking her, that when the lunar eclipse happened. Kinda weird seeing a bright as moon this morning, to a bloody red color kinda freaky.

It's a neat stunt but what exactly is the point? PR? I thought weight was always such an issue with these launches.

It's a neat stunt but what exactly is the point? PR? I thought weight was always such an issue with these launches.

It was a test launch. SpaceX built a rocket twice as powerful as a Delta IV Heavy, the most powerful rocket currently in use. It can put 170,000 pounds into low Earth orbit, so sending a 2,000 pound car to the asteroid belt is no problem. This is the first time a single person got to pick a test payload to leave Earth orbit. Musk picked his Roadster.

I bet people will create some funny jokes or bits on tv about a car floating in outer space, especially when E.T. is flying by it.

Galaxy collisions have always fascinated me. It might seem weird, but right now, the Milky Way is tearing apart dwarf galaxies that are orbiting around it.

And in a few billion years, our galaxy will collide with Andromeda.

Chances are, our solar system will not be effected by it, but it would get ejected out of the new galaxy.
