There certainly are a lot of You Tube videos about Las Vegas and it has changed a lot since my trip in 2004. Fun watch!
The Frozen Four will be in the T Mobile Arena behind the New York New York and MGM Hotels on the Strip.
Looks like a good arena for hockey. Home of the Vegas Golden Knights

The latest Kentucky Derby contender rankings (not points). It will be clearer after the Santa Anita Derby and Wood Memorial this weekend.



Renegade #1. I would have thought after all these years there would have been a horse already named Renegade
"Class President" scratched from Blue Grass Stakes, questionable for Kentucky Derby:(

The final Kentucky Derby point leaders with Albus, So Happy and Further Ado winning 100 point races this weekend.
With the three spots open for the international horses, Chief Wallabee is on the bubble with 50 points. He deserves to be in the Kentucky Derby

Frozen Four 2026

Watching the Las Vegas videos, it sounds like the Pirate Show at Treasure Island and the Volcano at the Mirage no longer exists. Sounds like the cool thing now would be seeing the Wizard of Oz show at the Sphere.

As far as watching at home, we went to the Nob Bar tonight for the Election Watch Party. It looks like it would be a good place to watch the Badgers

My idea situation would be that the Badgers win the National Title. But if they lose to North Dakota and Michigan wins against Denver. I'd like to see Michigan win it all making them the Hockey and Basketball National Champions in the same season.

It will also be a colorful Frozen Four. One team green, one team yellow gold, one team dark red and one team bright red

Frozen Four 2026 in Las Vegas

We had issues with my wife's schedule, so I just decided to subscribe to ESPN instead of going to any local bar. Plus, I get Disney Plus now and watch can "Secretariat" I bought a Red Baron pizza on special and because Red Baron pizza used to be the sponsor of the old WCHA Hockey Tournament.
Wisconsin survived a 5 on 3 penalty kill in the 2nd quarter to advance to the National Championship game on Saturday. 2-1 over North Dakota. The Badgers jumped ahead 2-0 early and held on. Then Denver spoiled the Michigan story winning in double overtime 4-3. So it will be Wisconsin vs Denver for the National
Title.

I think when we were in Las Vegas in 2004, we stayed at the hotel (the Flamingo) where Ann Margaret was in this movie (Viva Las Vegas)



I also knew that the Star Trek Experience we went to at the Las Vegas Hilton went of business. :(

Kentucky Derby Prep 2026

The Lexington Stakes this weekend is the final prep race before the Kentucky Derby. Although no one in the field will qualify. Just as last year, the winner 'Gosger" did not make the Derby field but made a hell of lot of noise in the Preakness, taking the courageous favorite "Journalism" and the wild "Sandman" all the way to the wire. The Preakness was the most exciting race of 2025

Frozen Four 2026 in Las Vegas

It's nice to see the Gondola rides at the Venetian are still going. We went just before sunset with a nice view of the city. (back in 2004)



The National Championship game:
I told my Sweetie if the Badgers win the National Title that would make up for missing the opening number of the Band: the Maude TV Theme, when we went to the Big 10 Quarterfinal game last month. We were on time and could have made it to our seats on the 2nd level, but we looked for a burger stand on the 2nd level and couldn't find one, so we went back to the main level and by that time the band started the pregame and I had to listen from the concession stand.
The Badgers were up 1-0 all the way to the end of the 2nd quarter but lost 2-1 in the final quarter. It was sad. It would have been nice if Wisconsin could have given the Big 10 a Hockey Title to match Indiana's Football and Michigan's Basketball Title.

This now leaves me with a decision of whether I will keep the ESPN subscription especially going into the summer. I am not much of a summer sports guy.
Just go back to Hulu only

Kentucky Derby 2026

"Trendsetter" won the Lexington over the weekend but will not qualify for the Kentucky Derby. Maybe he will be in The Preakness and do another "Gosger"

The Final Contenders:
I'll be rooting for "Silent Tactic" "Albus" "The Puma" and it appears "Chief Wallabee" will be in the race now. And now I have to look for my Derby

With the Kentucky Derby two and half weeks away, a good race this weekend with be The Oaklawn Handicap featuring "Sovereignty", last year's Kentucky Derby and Belmont winner and "Journalism" last year's Preakness winner and Kentucky Derby and Belmont runner-up. Former stablemates, good friends and competitors, the two will be facing off for the first time since last year's Belmont Stakes. Also, in the 4yr old up race, another horse in last year's Kentucky Derby "Publisher" who's been on a win streak of late. This is going to be a good one and a fine remembrance of last year's incredible season.

2026 Oaklawn Handicap
"Sovereignty" and "Journalism" lose to old horse.

A rough day for the Kentucky Derby Class of 2025 as "Sovereignty" "Journalism" and "Publisher" finish 2nd, 3rd and 4th to 7-year-old "White Abarrio", a former champion of the Breeders Cup and Florida Derby. He ran like a stud today. Here's to the old athletes. "Journalism" was acting up at the gate and got sandwiched in again. He's probably feeling down but still ran a good race. He is one cool horse.

Wow, the Kentucky Derby is this coming Saturday. The prep season went so fast. I will be lost after the Triple Crown races are over.

What to wear


Many folks have parties either at home or at a diner. The Lions Club will be holding a party but I will be watching from home for full concentration. I don't bet. You don't need to be a wager to enjoy the horses run especially in this race. But the odds give you an idea of what the experts think after seeing the point season.
