Did you actually see her? Otherwise you can't be sure.

We can't have nice things.

I could make a smart ass remark that is a good thing there are no poles in the woman's boxing event but that seems to be a hot topic some places so I won't.

Jumping into a pool filled with plastic sprinkles will likely never be an Olympic event.

New York City's ice cream museum is sued by a man who says he broke his ankle jumping into the sprinkle pool

Team USA beat France to win the gold medal in men's basketball. It is their 5th consecutive gold.
*yawn*

Do they really even need to go through the motions? One country with all (or most) of the professional players playing against the rest of the slate of amateurs? Just give them the gold and save everyone the plane fare.

In equally stupid olympic news, Canada won gold in breakdancing. First gold for that 'event' ever. Next olympics we will take thumb wrestling as well.

Since 1997 when the International Olympic Committee declared competitive ballroom dancing to be a sport, the World Dance Sport Federation has been trying to get ballroom dancing into the Olympics. They must think we're still in the 1930s.

Breakdancing was an event at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires and the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. They must think we're still in the 1980s.

Maybe the organizers of the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane will think we're still in the 1920s and they'll include the Charleston and the Lindy hop.

I just noticed that when I posted the August 3 medal count, I said the USA has won 123 bronze. Oops! It was 23.

The United States has won the most gold medals in 18 Summer Olympics – 19, if you include the 2024 games in Paris. For the first time in Summer Olympics history, two nations tied for the most gold medals.

USA, 126 (40 gold, 44 silver, 42 bronze)
China, 91 (40 gold, 27 silver, 24 bronze)
Great Britain, 65 (14 gold, 22 silver, 29 bronze)
France, 64 (16 gold, 26 silver, 22 bronze)
Australia, 53 (18 gold, 19 silver, 16 bronze)
Japan, 45 (20 gold, 12 silver, 13 bronze)
Italy, 40 (12 gold, 13 silver, 15 bronze)
Netherlands, 34 (15 gold, 7 silver, 12 bronze)
Germany, 33 (12 gold, 13 silver, 8 bronze)
South Korea, 32 (13 gold, 9 silver, 10 bronze)
Canada, 27 (9 gold, 7 silver, 11 bronze)

My father-in-law felt the same way until he watched it and said, "It's pretty demanding physically. And if they're gonna have things like skateboarding and BMX biking anyway..."

My only beef with it is I don't like competitions that don't have a hard guideline on how to win. I like "the team that puts more balls in the basket wins" or "the person who crosses the finish line first wins". None of this "the judges thought team A danced better than team B" stuff.

It looks to be a one olympic wonder sport.

Yes, I hate judging since it is always biased. Figure skating comes to mind.

I'm think I'm going through Olympics withdrawal. If I don't hear Mike Tirico's voice soon, I'm gonna lose it. I may start whipping things around like a hammer-throw.
