I was born in Toledo in 19-something-or-other
I ate a lot of beef that was cooked for me by Mother
I loved it but it made me gain a lot of weight
You might say I feared a heart attack would be my fate
Last year I quit eating beef and I felt I was born again
My cholesterol went down and I started getting thin
But it started to drive me crazy that I wasn't eating meat
I gave in to my urges and I fixed a steak to eat
Now I'm on an Ohio beef high
I give no thought to whether I might die
I enjoyed that steak more than any diet I could try
Ohio beef high (Toledo)

It doesn't sound like any of these were the cause of the rosacea. I have that too, on the bridge of my nose. It used to be more noticeable when I drank, but as I got older, it became just a constant thing. I have some medication which is mostly ineffective.
I tried a dermatologist, a nutritionist and a kinesiologist. Dermatologist said, "I have a medication which will fix it but you won't like the side effects." The kinesiologist was a genius & true miracle worker for several issues my family had (that story another time) but he couldn't fix the rosacea (RIP Dr Caskey). The nutritionist told me "Within a couple months, we'll find what triggers the rosacea." Eight months into it, it started getting better, but then got worse. So I suggested we stop suspecting foods and try environmental factors (mold, dust, dander, pollen, etc). We tried a number of those and, just like certain foods, certain environmental factors made it worse, but aren't the root cause.

Eventually I got an eye sty and was told by my eye doctor it's related to the rosacea. Left untreated, it could cause serious vision problems. So I relented and started taking Doxycycline and it works well.

On a scale of 1-10 (1 = clear skin, 10 = people asking if I have windburn):
From late 2005 (when it exploded) to 2015 (start of elimination diet): varying between 6-10
During strict elimination diet 2015/2016: between 5-8
Learning to moderate it based on known triggers: between 4-7
While on Doxy: between 2-3
Stopping Doxy: between 4-6

What I want, and am still searching for, is a cure. Doxy sometimes gives me an upset stomach (like it did this morning). The instructions are "take without food ... unless you get a stomach upset, then take it with food (but it will be less effective)." I don't like the idea of putting this stuff in my body for the rest of my life.

Yep! I think they do a big dose to fight Lyme and low dose for rosacea.

Low dose doxycycline
Doxycycline, an antibiotic at full doses, has been formulated into a low dose (40 mg) oral treatment that works as an anti-inflammatory but does not lead to antibiotic resistant bacteria. This treatment significantly reduces the red bumps and pimples seen in moderate to severe rosacea, and reduces some redness.
The low dose also means patients do not have as many of the side effects associated with full dose antibiotics.
How it works
Treats inflammation. Also helps ocular rosacea.
Side Effects
A small number of people get stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhea, headaches or yeast infections.

Today I learned the Mickey Mouse short The Sorcerer's Apprentice that was part of Disney's 1940 animated film Fantasia was not the first filmed version of the 1797 poem by Johann Wolfgang van Goethe. Here is The Wizard's Apprentice, released on May 22, 1930. The music is by French composer Paul Dukas. The uncredited stars are Josef Swickard as the wizard, Fritz Feld as the apprentice, Greta Granstedt as the young woman and Bernard Siegel as a chess player. The special effects were really good, considering it was 1930. Granstedt appeared in more than 80 shorts and feature films between 1927 and 1959 and in more than 30 television episodes in the 1950s-60s.

Now I'm going to feel like an ogre every time I mow the lawn or trim the hedge.

In about 5 different places in the article, it says they don't actually scream, but emit a sound we can't hear. But then it continues to refer to it as screaming. And then it says they don't know anything about the sound. Dumb.

Have I told you guys about this balloon? It's really shocking. Like absolutely shocking. I bought it for Pam's 40th on her bday December 1. We celebrated the day before on the 30th so I bought it on Nov 29. I'm not a fan of getting rid of balloons until they hit the ground because I figure that's a waste of money. This fucking balloon will not hit the ground. It's been 6 months and this balloon is still hanging in there. And it wasn't like a super fancy balloon. I mean it cost me like 20 bucks. It had the 40 on it before I had to take that part off but this thing is still fucking floating. I'm pretty sure this is an anomaly.

November fucking 29th 2022 and here we are.
