So apparently in Uruguay you get fined if you don't vote.

I don't love that...I kinda think everyone should vote (I vote every time I can) but to be truly free you also have the right to be a lazy asshole and not vote.

They had some issues with communism in the 80's and got through that nonsense so I guess if compulsory voting is the way they got through that it's better than nothing.

I'm basically a South American historian now...specifically Uruguay.
