True. But I've found I really can't play more than three, or one gets neglected. I'm pretty much set with one acoustic, one electric and one bass. Unless I decide to pick up pedal slide, resonator or guitar harp, I'm good. (All of those scenarios are doubtful, BTW :D)

Tonight I learned the riff to Whole Lotta Love, and also played some open G Keef stuff. Open G is just fun right there, I don't care who you are. Plus, Telecasters rock. I will never own a large-bodied, heavy electric again. Or one with a flat fretboard.

Still planning on adding an electric (or two!) and maybe a 12-string later. I'd also like to pick up ukelele.

Picked up the Am F C G chord progression which pretty much covers half the songs ever performed on guitar (Save Tonight, Self Esteem, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, She Will Be Loved, No Woman No Cry, Don't Stop Believing, countless others) and I'll be playing around with that and seeing what other songs I can find with that progression.

I've been learning a bunch of classic rock riffs on my tele and working on scales. I was looking through Justin Sandercoe's song lessons for another riff to learn and came across "Hole Hearted," and I have to learn it. As much as my roommate and I butchered it vocally 20 years ago, the least I can do is butcher it instrumentally now. If only I had the cash lying around for a nice Guild 12 string...

This will do:

GUILD TRADITIONAL SERIES F-512 12-STRING ACOUSTIC GUITAR WITH CASE - Elderly Instruments

Why, yes, Mr. Elderly. I would indeed like an ebony fretboard, adi bracing and gold Gotoh open back tuners! How nice of you to offer.

It don't sound half bad on this six string adi-topped dreadnought I have in my hands, however...adirondack is God's wood. Um...no, I'll stick with that. Get your minds out of the gutter, blasphemers.

I'm working on scales also. I want to be able to master one or two by the time I get my electric (I'll probably start with the Ibanez first, then get the strat later). I think I've got the Minor blues scale on the 5th fret down pretty good, moving on to others.

Well I was bored this morning so I decided to see if Guitar Center had any lefties I could putz around with. Found a Lefty Fender Telecaster for around $500 I gave a demo. HO.LEE.CRAP! those things are so much easier to play than my acoustic (even after the action). Although they must have had at least '10s on the string gauge since they weren't particularly bendy. It was still embarrassingly easy to play.

Couldn't find any Line6 amps on the floor however, I think I'll have to order that online. If they have the same (or similar) Telecaster available when I'm ready to buy, that'd give me something to think about.

Woo hoo! I think GC's try to keep a lefty on hand.
Scrimp and save!
That's a great reason to skip the fast food, stash your pocket change, sell something that belongs to your neighbor. Whatever it takes.

They also had some nice used ibanez lefties for under $200. Might look into that too.

They practically play themselves!

I love my tele. It's so light, ergonomic and easy to play.

Don't shy away from Squiers. A cheap Ibanez is no different quality-wise than a cheap Squier. And in fact, there is no Squier factory or Ibanez factory. Samick makes most Squier guitars in Indonesia and China, and a Chinese company makes most Ibanezes, even the expensive ones. Ibanez just chooses not to brand its low-end guitars differently. Gibson and Fender do.

I see Squier teles at Southpaw guitars for $399. That would probably hold me until I get my American standard model ($1200).

I also see a Line 6 amp with all the tones for $199 at Musician's Friend.com. Maybe by this time next month.
