I like Ringo's new single. It's from his Crooked Boy EP. But somebody should tell Ringo we have a new invention. It's called "color film."
Lakeside is best known for their 1981 number-one R&B hit Fantastic Voyage. I've been listening online to Memphis R&B oldies station WDIA. Today they played Lakeside's soulful rendition of I Want To Hold Your Hand. I hadn't heard it before. This got to #5 on the R&B chart and #102 on the Bubbling Under chart in February 1982.
And that song is best known for being the foundation of Coolio's "Fantastic Voyage". Slide slide slippedy slide.

Ringo is mostly associated with the Beatles tracks I don't like (Octopus's Garden among others, although don't have many issues with his solo stuff) but his new country album tracks get played on Outlaw Country quite often, and actually aren't bad!
In 1965, Pete Best released an album titled Best Of The Beatles on Savage Records. Among its 12 songs are Last Night, Wait & See, Some Other Guy, Shimmy Like My Sister Kate and a remake of the Ikettes' I'm Blue. Along with Best on drums, the album featured Wayne Bickerton on bass and vocals, Tony Waddington on guitar and vocals, and Bill Burton and Trevor Barker on sax.
Many Beatles fans who bought the album complained that it contained no Beatles songs. The New York Bureau of Consumer Protection launched an investigation but ultimately decided against filing charges. There was no fraud. Best was indeed "of the Beatles."

Ringo Starr's son Zak Starkey and his group Mantra Of The Cosmos, which includes Oasis bassist Andy Bell and Happy Mondays members Mark "Bez" Berry and Shaun Ryder, today released a new single, Rip Off. Paul McCartney's son James and John Lennon's son Sean share vocals with Shaun Ryder. Zak posted a clip on his Instagram page. The song will soon be available for streaming.
Each of the first three Anthology albums went to number one on Billboard's album chart and Anthology 4 is likely to do the same.

The 1995 eight-episode documentary series The Beatles Anthology has been restored and remastered, the music has been remixed and a ninth episode has been added. The Beatles Anthology will premiere November 26 on Disney+. Here is a preview:
In 1966, Hollywood record label Quest released The Girl I Love by "The Beatles." The group was actually the Lytations, comprised of members of the Ly-Dells and the Quotations. One of the writers was "J. Lemmon" (like John Lennon). The publisher was "Maclen" (like McCartney and Lennon). I have no idea why the Beatles didn't file a lawsuit over this.
