With the NFL having added a 17th game a few years ago. The 17th game is played against the opposite conference.
Example. Saints. NFC South. Plays all 4 teams in the NFC North this year but also get the extra game against the Raiders.
Purely as a thought experiment, let's say the NFL decided to make that 17th opponent become an every-year permanent cross conference rival. How would that go?
The easy ones:
Giants - Jets
Steelers - Eagles
Rams - Chargers
Dolphins - Bucs
Cowboys - Texans
Ravens - Commanders
49ers - Raiders
Next ones:
Panthers - Jaguars
Bears - Colts
Lions - Browns
Now it starts to get less obvious:
Saints - Titans
Falcons - Bengals
Vikings - Bills (partners in long term misery?)
Seahawks - Patriots (Super Bowl rivals)
Packers - Chiefs
Square pegs:
Broncos - Cardinals
