Sundials in most areas will not be correct on Sunday...

When I was a child -- last century -- my family had two clocks to reset. Now almost every family, excluding the Amish, has to reset the time on clocks, watches, answering machines, stoves, microwave ovens, car radios and other devices. What used to take one or two minutes now takes a half-hour!

Most of the modern devices change on their own. Only older tech needs changing.

There is no sane reason to keep doing these twice-yearly time changes. Are we still trying to conserve heating oil to help our soldiers who are fighting in World War II? And it takes my poor lil' body several weeks to get used to the time change. The one in autumn is worse because until my body clock finally adjusts, I feel like the time changed by two or three hours instead of one. I get tired and sleepy at 8 PM and then I'm wide awake at 5 AM. Time changes are stupid. Okay, I'm done complaining now.
I like the time change, I find the time shift to be very useful.

In June, sunrise is 5am EDT. That's early enough. If we didn't have DST, it would be 4am. I don't want the sun waking me up at 4am.

In late December/early January, sunrise is 7:15am EST. That's late enough; actually, it's too late, but moving to DST would just make it worse.

This is why we do it. Forget about farmers, or energy use. It's for the sunrise and sunset. Now, if you live down south, like Florida or Arizona or Louisiana or So Cal, you don't have the sunrise problem. But up north, we do.

I think that I've got 18 watches to reset.
My automatic watches are all sitting in my watch box, stopped - with the exception of the one I recently wore. So I have to set them when I change anyway. And I have maybe 4 quartz watches, but 2 are primarily summer, and 2 are winter. So not much to do at one time.

I hate DST, I always had to change all of my clocks and it was very annoying.

But now I have Freedom clocks in my house. Have fun changing all your clocks in couple of weeks.

My parents live in SK. No DST. But my dad always complains that his TV schedules change.

It is not a big deal.

That does effect me too, some of my shows on the higher channels will start an hour sooner. Which I do like, now I'm able to watch them sooner, because I usually go to bed early at night. Because I get up so damn early in the morning.

I have bad news. The sun wakes you up at 4am, no matter what your clock says. Changing the time on the clock has no impact on the rotation of the Earth.

It changes your perception of time. Most people have no idea where exactly the earth is in its rotation.

Clocks are just a measure of time not Earth rotation.

False dilemma. Clocks display both time and the rotation of the earth. The hands on clocks rotate "clock-wise" because that's the direction a shadow travels across a sundial in the northern hemisphere. Clock faces were designed to mimic sundials.

Sundials were also a measure of time not rotational position.
