Sundials in most areas will not be correct on Sunday...

This is totally insane - which is what we should expect from these people. Being a half-hour off from the rest of the world is the stupidest idea yet.
You would be able to bond with Newfoundlanders.

Here in Canada, CBC shows are advertised "8:00, 8:30 in Newfoundland". Leads to several jokes that only Canadians get.

Rep. Greg Steube wants to introduce a half-hour for daylight saving time.

Because apparently losing one full hour wasn’t confusing enough — now we’re all just going to be 30 minutes late and 30 minutes early at the same time.

Next step: “Quarter-Hour Freedom Act.”
So meetings can start at 8:17 for no reason whatsoever.

Even the clocks are like, “Sir… just pick a time zone and commit.

State not country. I think New York was also talking of similar legislation with it's neighbours.
I don't believe NY will change independently of the rest of the country. It's not some hodunk state like Indiana or Arizona. I think it would take a change in US policy for NY to possibly match Canada.

They are more likely copying Saskatchewan. Much closer. They don't change because the cows get confused.
At the risk of another facepalm from scotch, I will explain the above remark. As you may know I grew up in Saskatchewan. Every time the time changed in the rest of Canada changes the local news does a story about if Saskatchewan should change. Inevitably the reporter will interview a farmer who will say that it's good we don't change as it would confuse the cows.

New York's permanent daylight savings time bill hinges on Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Vermont doing the same.

I heard about it from a snippet on Buffalo news which we get up here.

That seems incredibly unlikely, especially since it leaves out Rhode Island and New Hampshire (plus it would suck for Maine).

I had a lot of trouble today with the concept of why the day would be longer if we put our clocks one hour ahead. I would have thought the opposite would give us longer daylight. I wasn't sure the time until I woke up and looked at my phone. Anyway, I did a good job resetting the oven and my car.
I think I made the most of the day with the time change

The day is not longer (it's an hour shorter); the amount of daylight is longer. That's why we do it. Going forward, the days will all be 24 hours, with more of the waking day in daylight.

In all areas days average to exactly 24 hours / day over an entire year. This year in BC the average length of a day this year will be 23.997360274 hours / day.
