There are a bunch of songs that were not made for any particular sport or movie, yet they've become staples for certain events, making a lot of money for the artists.

This has been a longtime money maker for the inmate.

It began when the Fenway Park music director at the time Amy Toobey began playing the song over the loudspeakers in 1998. The tradition was continued by her replacement Megan Kaiser. From NPR:

"I spoke to a woman named Amy Toobey, who had been the music director before Megan Kaiser. It was Amy who started playing “Sweet Caroline.” The reason: She just liked the song. That’s it."

I wonder if Amy knew that and just never admitted it. Or maybe she just subconsciously chose it because of the connection.

"What is Life" was used as the training montage in "Battle of the Sexes" No video available but in the song Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) is fooling around and is making comments about his upcoming match with Billie Jean King while Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) is shown running and hitting tennis balls during her training. Good movie with historic footage of the matches

Bob Grabeau (real name: Robert Frank Grabot) was a vocalist with the Jan Garber Orchestra, a demo singer, a session singer and a vocal coach. In August 1959, Grabeau, backed by the Horace Heidt Orchestra, released Charge! The song ends with the Dodgers beating the White Sox in the World Series – and two months later, the Dodgers did indeed win the World Series by beating the White Sox! (This video says "1960." It's wrong.)
