So where did this latest Ellis/Bubba rivalry come from??

I've said this before and I guess here it goes again...... I like Ellis I really do. I love the music and no commercials. I also love his energy. The guy is actually excited about radio and that a good thing for all of us. That being said...... Ellis needs to realize that there is a lot more to radio and getting fans. The guy has never had to be on old fashioned shitty radio. He has no idea what it's like when you can't say fuck and you can't do "Am I a slut.

He says he wants Howard to pass the tourch. Maybe someday that will happen, but what I wonder is can Ellis be as funny censored. Howard built his whole career on pushing the limit and not being able to say fuck and shit and all that. He had to do other things to be funny and it worked. Jason Ellis has never had to do that. He hasn't had to find a a work around for certain things. Do you guys realize how lucky he is. He's starting out uncensored and able to do pretty much whatever the fuck he wants. Howard and Bubba never had that luxury. I think Ellis will be great and I will continue to listen I just hope he remembers what other have done before they had the luxury of Sirius.

I still listen to Bubba. I listen to his Friday show. I'm sure someday I will give it up, but as long as he is on Sirius live on Fridays I will listen. We all know that there are not to many live shows on Friday.

I think that's what Bubba was trying to get at these past few days. You have Jason Ellis exploding on to the scene, being able to say what he wants uncensored. There's no pig vomit, there's nobody in a suit pushing a button everytime he says the word "ass.

With all respect, he doesn't how lucky he has it. Did LeBron James come along and say "I'm the next Michael Jordan?" Did Sydney Crosby come along and say "I'm the next Wayne Gretsky?" Did whoever up-and-coming quarterback come along and say "I'm the next Brett Farve or the next Joe Montana?"

All Bubba is saying, is that you have to focus on what you have, and where you are. If you build yourself up and it never comes, you turn out to look rather foolish.

Look at what O&A did. They kept saying they were the next Howard Stern, how people shouldn't listen to Howard because he was a washed-up tired old geezer with a million-dollar mansion, etc. Meanwhile, they were thrown off the air in Boston. They ended up in New York with a deal BETTER than what Howard had in 2005. Not only were they live on free radio all across the country, but they were live on satellite at the same time. When the free radio shift ended, they had a "walk over" to their XM studio where they could do what they wanted.

Simply put, they couldn't live up to the hype.

I think Bubba really does want Ellis to be big. He doesn't want them to make the same mistakes that O&A did.

Posting on a message board about how your show is the biggest and greatest thing ever? The Pest Army did that and look where it got them.

Howard will pass the torch when he feels he's ready to. He won't hand it off to the first person who asks for it. And as already said, there probably won't be another Howard Stern. There probably won't be another Michael Jordan or another Joe Montana, or another whoever. Howard was #1 in New York for several years. At the same time, he was #1 in many other markets. That is not an easy task. Asking millions of your people to follow you to a completely untested format isn't easy. He took a hell of a risk, but it paid off when more than a few million followed.

And actually, part of the reason why there won't be another Howard Stern is because of the FCC and the changing methods of broadcast. Because of the FCC and Janet Jackson, broadcast companies are going to be damn scared to "push the envelope." Thanks to things like the internet, podcasts, and Sirius XM, there won't be a need to "push the envelope." If you want to go off about some strippers breasts, or drink crazy drinks and describe the puking, you can do that without fear of being fined.

If you want to do a live broadcast from a roller coaster, not only can you do that via podcast, but you can also say whatever you want to.

I like both shows. After hearing the old bubba shows when he is on vacation I like his new deal. I can only take so much smut. I get tired of Ellis' smut also. Bubba is too sensitive.

People like when they just sit down and "shoot the shit", right?

This is that show. It sucks that it's replayed and relatively curse-free, but do you need to curse to have good radio? You can only fucking say a fucking f-bomb every few fucking words before it gets fucking tired.

Excellent point.

You know what's funny, people used to complain that FM got the good stories from them after they got back, as well as more preparation/segments, etc. and that the worst part about the arrangement was that all the BS'ing between the guys had happened on FM.

Some people who tuned in around summer of last year, myself included thought the FM show was a better product with the Sirius show suffering from a lack of content and things to talk about. I love the show, but listening to a show where they watched the news and endlessly talked about the election was rough.

People now don't like the FM show because it's their only option. And the complaints about the show, that it's too Florida centric, too much MMA/Racing, product shilling, etc. are the same things people have complained about since he debuted. Idiots bitched about it being a "local show" as soon as it hit the air on 101.

Yeah. Of course it's gonna be Florida stuff. When Howard talks about "whatever's on his mind" of course it's going to be NY stuff. I'm sure Ellis talks about a lot of LA (or wherever he broadcasts from) stuff.

The DRC Post of the Year needs to go to the guy who posted "I don't like Bubba because he's constantly promoting his stuff. Red Dragons."

People bitch about whatever. A while ago, I wrote a post about how people were bitching about FM radio. Now they're starting to bitch about SiriusXM. I predicted (maybe wrongly or rightly) that over time, they'll start to bitch about Pandora and Slacker.

Will the Ellis show be a 100% good time, all day every day? Eventually...they'll bitch about how Sirius screws him over, or the show has repeating themes, or there's too much skateboard talk, or "he already played a MxPx song today" or whatever else. (Does Ellis have a Bubba Raw/HowardTV thing? People better start subscribing to that because you know he'll start talking about it...)

I agree about the political stuff. That's where the schedule got to be too tiring. At that point, they were in a "work mindset" for over 10 hours with several more hours to go. Sirius had taken away a lot of their torture stuff (which "no one likes anyway") so what else could they have done?

When it comes down to it I think I just enjoy Ellis' sense of humor more. Sure I never would have found his show if things didn't change butthats the way it goes...
I'm still a Bubba fan it's great to have something to listen to on Fridays.

I never subscribe to anyones site. I'm usually too busy working or surfing porn.... Ok mostly porn. :o

Howard won't pass the torch to anyone. He'll pass away with it in his death-grip, and it will have to be buried with him. :D

Howard won't "pass the torch."

Someone eventually will step up and do something to attract the listeners. Howard can recommend someone, but it may or may not work out.
