It was an amazing concert (my post was just a punchline, ba-dum TSH!).

And yeah, Adam Ant basically had a mental breakdown shortly after that.

His visits to mental hospitals earned him the title of one of the ‘most troubled pop stars (the UK) has ever produced’ with BBC Channel 4 airing The Madness of Prince Charming about him.
I think Adam was just butt-hurt because he realized that there were a lot of other bands that were more popular than him. He was facing his own limited relevance. That and he was probably strung out at the time. (The 80's)
Hey everybody, great news! I think I've finally caught-up to my original list, so now I can continue to the 2nd half of the 70's. Woo hoo!

The next band on my list is the Eagles. My favorites are from when Joe Walsh joined for Hotel California. I know IRBS beat me to it, but this is an awesome live version

Eagles – Hotel California (live)

another good one from that album

Eagles – Life in the Fast Lane (live)

I also like Victim of Love, but it's been scrubbed from the internets. Must be another ownership dispute.

I still like Fast Lane.
Maybe because it wasn't totally overplayed, and maybe because of Fast Times. Although, it's no Moving in Stereo....

@HecticArt Oh okay just checking. Earlier I'd mentioned I wanted my band to cover "Those Shoes" but they fought me on it. So I was wondering if you mentioned "Moving In Stereo" because that's one of 3 covers I actually convinced the band to do back in the day - and maybe I'd mentioned that on here at some point.

"Moving In Stereo" sounded pretty badass with a heavy chunky distortion! (Beavis & Butthead voices...) DUN DUN DUN DUN DA-DUN DUN-DAH!! DUN DUN DUN DA-DUN DAAH!!

Sorry, I meant the Cars are coming up in this thread soon.
Ahhh. I knew they did a couple of gigs as The New Cars, but that may have been before Ric passed away.
Elliot has a Toledo guitar in his collection. It's the green Super-Rev.
I have the same one in orange. (I got mine before he got his, so I know he's trying to be like me.)

I mentioned Moving in Stereo just because Fast Lane reminds me of Fast Times, which always reminds me of.....well....the Moving in Stereo scene.
A crunchy version of that song seems like it should work well.

I've always been a fan of the massively talented Billy Joel, but it wasn't until he released The Stranger that I bought an album of his. It was one of the first albums I got myself. Here are some of my favorites from his 1970's work, and in some of these live performances, you can see how amazing both he and his band are.

We'll start with one of his first songs, just a beautiful ballad with memorable lyrics
Billy Joel – She’s Got a Way (live)

Here are some awesome clips from his early years
Billy Joel – Captain Jack (live)

Billy Joel – Prelude/ Angry Young Man (live)

Billy Joel – Scenes From an Italian Restaurant (live)

Billy's a legend. 20 straight years of incredible music.

My favs of his from the 70s are "Movin Out", "My Life", "Big Shot", "The Stranger" (<- another song I tried to get my band to do a heavied-up cover of, but no dice) and one more 70s song of his I love but it's in my 333 so I'll stop there. One of his not-70s songs is in the 333 too.

For today's installment, I'm featuring one of my all-time favorite bands, Steely Dan. I think if you grew up in the 70's, and played a musical instrument - not a cool one, but a band instrument - you were into Steely Dan. They perfectly blended jazz, rock, and pop. They put a new twist on contemporary music, with interesting chord structures, instrumentation, and phrasing. And they also had the college band vibe. Their songs were often about different things than most pop music.

They had a prolific run in the 70's, putting out 6 albums in 6 years. The last of those - Aja - went in a different direction, with world music influences, and was really anticipated by us band geeks. After Aja, they went on hiatus for a few years until Gaucho in 1980. I'm sticking to the 70's music here, with some favorites

Steely Dan – Reelin’ In the Years (live)

Steely Dan – My Old School (lip-synced)

Steely Dan – Aja

Steely Dan – Deacon Blues (live)

Yes. She has some lingering foot swelling issues but she is clear. We have seen her since she has recovered.

And yes my statement was selfish. Some people have it a lot worse than missing a rock concert. It was not my intent to belittle their fate.
I get what you're saying. Don't sweat it.

Our community band got cancelled for the year. That's probably the worst for me (entertainment-wise).

I didn't know your daughter had Covid @IdRatherBeSkiing !! So glad to hear she's recovered. I've known four people who have had it, and all have fully recovered, fortunately.

The worst effects Covid has had on me personally is missed concerts too, plus 4 months of no band practice (which resumed three weeks ago), and having to watch my teenage son rarely able to hang out with his friends for the 4 months. He has to spend most of his time with his lame old fuddy-duddy parents, the poor guy.

But that's all very very small potatoes in comparison to what some are going through.

I'm glad that your daughter is doing better IRBS!
I've been wondering.

All the things I look forward to each year aren't going to happen.
Opening day of baseball,
A noon game or two,
And today they cancelled the German festival.

I haven't been to band practice since April.
The Tool concert was cancelled.
One of my bigger annual photography gigs got cancelled. That cost me close to $1000.
We usually shoot a wedding or two each year, but that's dried up. Honestly, if any gigs come around, I'm not likely to take them. I wouldn't feel right taking a job away from a photographer that pays the rent with their camera.
