This week on Sirius XMU Sessions (their live interview/ performance program), they have Natasha Khan from Bat For Lashes, doing songs from their new album. And while I don't have a live version of that, I wanted to put-up something that shows what an incredible talent she is. She's simply one of the best live vocalists around.

This is Bat For Lashes performing Laura, one of their most well-known songs. Hope you can handle a "sensitive" tune.

Heard this on the radio this morning. It reminded me of how influential he was, and how totally obsessed I was with the album Strange Cargo III

William Orbit – Water From A Vine Leaf (with Beth Orton)

Orbit went on to write and produce this, from the hit album

Madonna – Ray of Light

"Ray of Light" was ALMOST produced by Trent Reznor. I can only imagine the spin he would have put on it. Not a huge Madonna fan, but that is her best work by far.

Heard a song this morning that reminded me how great the Smashing Pumpkins were, during the 1st half of the 90's. Their first 3 albums, each released 2 years apart, were all genius. But it all started with Gish, and this song was their breakout hit

Smashing Pumpkins - Rhinoceros

Much of their success was due to the tremendous talent of their 4 original members, who could really rock!

Great stuff.
Billy doesn't get enough respect as a guitar player or a song writer.

He's got a new signature model guitar that's pretty badass.
I've got a couple from the same company (Reverend Guitars, based in sunny exotic Toledo, Ohio.) It's getting some killer reviews.

Here's a band that hit the scene in 2015, and is coming on strong in 2016. Possessing the odd name of Car Seat Headrest, and initially being known only by the interesting-but-overplayed Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales, I was first lukewarm to them. But other songs now getting airplay from their 2016 album Teens Of Denial, are proving them to be a refreshingly talented band. And performances of songs from their 2015 debut album (which can be seen on YouTube) show that they can really write and perform great original music. Some people say the lead singer sounds a bit like Ray Davies. To me, they sound like garage rockers elevated to the next level.

This song is currently getting radio airplay
