It's local election day!
While I feel it's every citizen's right NOT to vote just as much as it is their right to vote, personally I just don't feel right if I let even a boring local election go by without casting my ballot. Now being the incredible hypocrite you all know I am, I also have zero interest in researching who are the the best candidates for various city council seats. I've been getting the mailers for the past few weeks and from what I can gather the main division between the candidates is over being pro or anti development. I guess I fall on the pro side, but once again I don't really care.
So I came up with a foolproof plan. I just asked my dad who he was voting for and wrote down those names and simply copied his vote. He takes these local elections seriously. I've seen him reading about the candidates and their positions while I was visiting. Now ever since about 2008 Hendrik has become a pretty left leaning old man so I wound up voting for all Democrats. However in Boca that's not saying much. Even the candidates that have an R by their names are to the left of Bloomberg in their political leanings so party affiliation doesn't really make a difference.
I did my local civic duty. Perhaps irresponsibly, but I still did it.
