Sirius-XM’s Outlaw Country channel will broadcast Dwight Yoakam’s sold-out show at Nashville’s historic Ryman auditorium this Friday, April 12 beginning at 10:00 PM Eastern.
The concert is the first of two Ryman shows that sold out in under an hour, and fans nationwide will have a chance to listen live as Dwight treats the crowd and internet listeners to songs from throughout the Grammy Award-winning artist’s career. SIRIUSXM’s Outlaw Country (channel 60)–who have also broadcast live shows from Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Steve Earle and Shooter Jennings–will re-broadcast the show Thursday, July 4th.
Yoakam is touring in support of his critically acclaimed 3 Pears album and will be at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival June 15 in Manchester, TN and will appear April 27 at Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival in Indio, CA, as well as dates confirmed throughout the year.
Dwight’s Ryman dates marks his return to the Mother Church of Country Music’s sacred stage for the first time since 2005. “The Ryman is one of a handful of places in the world, that from the moment you step inside, you can feel that you have entered a hallowed chamber occupied by the essence of the great,†said Yoakam.
With 3 Pears, Dwight has dominated best-of-2012 lists including Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Village Voice, NPR, American Songwriter, Rhapsody and AOL’s The Boot. Meanwhile, the album was just named the #2 album of the year in Nashville Scene’s 13th Annual Country Music Critics’ Poll, as well being named the third best male vocalist, #5 songwriter and #8 artist of the year. See the full poll results HERE.
Dwight has been included in more critics’ year-end lists in 2012 than any other country artist. In addition, 3 Pears holds the record for the most weeks at #1 (eight) at Americana radio. Here’s a sample of other praise for 3 Pears, which marks Yoakam’s 26th studio album and is his highest-charting debut on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Country Albums charts.
