I doubt SiriusXMU or Alt Nation or Spectrum will start playing Drake. But they already use calculated programming. Spectrum plays certain "heritage" artists at specific intervals every day. Every music source - whether by stream or by air - is preprogrammed. I'm not sure AI will affect that in a noticeable way.
I am sure that on Classic Rewind they have Van Halen on a timer.

So, to further hijack this thread, I looked at xmplaylist.com's 100 most played 60-day list for Classic Rewind, and here are the stats. While Twilight Zone by Golden Earring was the most played (62 times), it's the only song by them to make top 100. These are the top appearing artists:

Artists
Entries in top 100
Boston7
Foreigner7
Fleetwood Mac6
Tom Petty/Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers6
AC DC4
John Mellencamp4
Pink Floyd4
Journey3
Queen3
Steve Miller Band3
Styx3
Van Halen3
.38 Special2
Billy Squier2
Blue Oyster Cult2
Cheap Trick2
Dire Straits2
Eagles2
Eddie Money2
Genesis2
Rolling Stones2
ZZ Top2

The other artists appeared only once in the top 100. So, just like WAAF, they play the shit out of Boston.

That is the top 100 played songs over the last 60 days. It still wouldn't cover playing an artist, such as Van Halen, many times but scattering the play over their many hits. I think it is this sin they are guilty of but maybe they are doing that with many artists and I just noticed it for Van Halen.

And yes, the formatting is indeed well architected.

Yes it does. The "entries" are the number of unique songs that made the top 100. So Van Halen had 3 different songs on the top 100. Boston had 7.

What's missing from the chart I posted is the number of times each song is played in 60 days. I left it out because each entry in the top 100 is played between about 45 and 55 times. The difference is trivial compared to the number of songs they have in rotation.

I'm sure they play more than 3 Van Halen songs, but the others are lower in rotation. Perhaps the 7 Boston songs are the only ones by them they play. But clearly, if they play more songs in heavy rotation by one artist than another, that probably carries through to the lesser played songs.

Boston and Foreigner each have seven songs among Classic Vinyl's 100 most-played titles – but in the past six hours, only one Boston song was played: More Than A Feeling. Three Foreigner songs were played: Urgent, Hot Blooded and Long Long Way From Home. Four Tom Petty songs were played: Breakdown, Learning To Fly, Free Fallin' and Don't Do Me Like That. As I noted when I posted the playlist four years ago, the channel ignores many major artists (such as Sting, Elton John, Rod Stewart, George Harrison and Paul McCartney) and ignores many of the big hits of the artists who do get played.

Oh, and look what Elon is doing now:

Wicked pissah!

AAF was my main station in the mid 80s.

When it comes to predicting what a station will play, last I knew WGIR (Manchester NH) aka Rock 101 played Night Ranger and Scorpions like the two bands own the joint.
I'm often confused as to whether WGIR and WHEB are the same station.

They kinda are. Sometimes they're playing the exact same content, sometimes not (well, last time I noticed was years ago but it probably hasn't changed over the last decade... like their playlist).

Haha, that's what I noticed too. I haven't really been in range of them for most of the last 7 years, so I had to base it on infrequent moments. But it seems like they may share the broadcast of a morning show, and then they each air their own music in the afternoon. Problem is, they both have about the same playlist!

Boris Eldagsen revealed that his award-winning photograph was AI-generated. He renounced the award – but I wonder if AI would have told him to keep it.
