Without getting entirely political, I wish I had audio of this and the anti-abortion rally.

The sad thing? I bet a LOT of fiscal conservatives will pull for Trump. Various online tax calculators have Trump as reducing a lot of taxes.

It's actually a popular theme, for the right to make that claim. I'm sure you've heard many claim that Obama's a racist, and/or that he's racially divisive. It works like this: a person who labels everything as racist, is inciting racial division, and sees everything in terms of race, which is racist.

For example, if I point-out that white officers are needlessly killing black people, I'm labeling the cops white, and the victims black, which is racist and divisive; when really, it's just officers doing their job, and color shouldn't figure into it.

Also (according to the right-wingers), blacks generally hate whites, while whites have been forced - by political correctness - to be equitable to blacks. When Obama first took office, there were many supposed quotes from Michelle about how she hated white people. Of course, they were all fabricated, but it's all part of a big scheme to deflect attention away from real racism.

Not to mention the right wing keeps saying that the GOP was against slave labor and the Democrats were founded to keep slaved around.

Meanwhile, I saw a photo on Fox News' FB page that had a white kid resting his elbow on some black kid's head. The page was saying that some people were calling that ad "racist" because, I guess, the black kid was supporting the white guy by being underneath or below him.

Meanwhile, no mention by Fox of the same ad with the black kid's elbow on top of another white kid's head.
 
I think humans are naturally racists. I list them in three categories, from worst to least:

1. Say they are racist and happy to be so, i.e. Daniel Carver.
2. Say they are not racist, i.e. pretty much most people.
3. Say they are racist at times but not happy about it. Trying to work to be better about prejudging people, i.e. the enlightened.

I think only two things will end racism. 1. We all breed with each other and become one shade, but then we'll find something else to get tribal over. 2. Aliens from outer space invade, just like in "Independence Day (ID4)".

I respectfully disagree completely. Some people feel that we are bad by nature: racist, cheaters, thieves, dishonest, greedy, and self-absorbed. I believe the opposite, that humans instinctively care about others, and understand the logic of being equitable to others. I site the fact that we're all still here - we haven't done ourselves in - and that, before we had organized government and religion, mankind had a sense of morality, which has been proven.

When a young child sees a spider, or a mouse, they tend to be interested and caring toward them. It's society that eventually makes them understand, that these are pests which should be disposed of.

Perhaps the worst part of all this Trump bullshit is when people say "I like him because he's not afraid to express what everyone is thinking". No. He's not expressing what I'm thinking, or what anyone I associate with is thinking. He's expressing what ignorant racists are thinking, but not me. Keep in mind that at it's core, racism is illogical, it's a manufactured belief. As long as there are open-minded people around, there will be those who understand this.

To sum up my point, humans are tribal, IMO. The "tribe" is based on some factor to differentiate an "elite" group from the everyone else. The factor can be race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc. This trait is an evolutionary holdover, capable of being good (rescuing your family in a building on fire when it would be easier to just save other people) or bad (enslaving another group of people to do your dirty work).

IMO, if one does not think prejudiced thoughts play any role in their thought process in any way and dismiss the notion, it's a lot easier for those prejudicial thoughts to creep into the thought process unnoticed.
 
I think that even people that are the most open, accepting, and non-racially skewed still have moments where a little comes out. They may or may not notice it. They may not like it if they realize they have done it, and they may try to do a better job of not letting it happen again. I'm not saying those are bad people, they are probably among the better. My old psych professor said that it's built into our brains as a survival thing from when we all did look alike, and stuck with us as we started to drift into different tribes.

I think it was George Carlin who said he likes people, until they form groups and all think as one, then the problems start.

We're all aware of stereotypes and how they came to be. I may still make assumptions or conclusions based on them, but that's different than wanting certain types of people to be eliminated from our society.
 
I agree. It upsets me to see people treating others in a f'ed up way. We all have to admit that when we see a couple of kids of a different race walking towards us at night, we react a little differently, even if we know better. Hopefully it gets better over time.
