Cubs beat Dodgers yesterday, 16-0. It is their worst shutout loss since August 8, 1965, when the Reds beat them 18-0.
Pete Crow-Armstrong homered twice tonight and Cubs beat Dodgers, 4-2. Dodgers are 11-6 and in 3rd place behind Padres and Giants.

Tonight was my turn to see the Jays lose to Atlanta 8-4. The game was over in the top of the 1st. The Atlanta pitcher had a perfect game through 4, a no-hitter and shutout through 5. It went south for him in the 6th with a Jays HR. But the Jays pretty much sucked top to bottom tonight. The bullpen did a good job. All 8 runs went to the starter.
Look at it this way, at least you're not a Rockies fan.
11.5 games out of first place and we're not even one third through the season. I highly expect this team to lose 120 games this year. Sure is looking that way.

Saw my next game tonight. The Jays beat the Mariners 3-1. The story was 3 base runners picked off on the base paths. 2 were directly by Barger the RF (one on what looked like a double but wasn't and another going from first to third). The third was a throw in from Barger but was not quite in time to get the runner at second. But the runner who rounded third went a bit to far and was caught in a rundown between third and home for the third out of the inning. The only Seattle offence came on a home run by Rowdy Tellez a former Blue Jay.
We gave away our ticket for tomorrow as we have a Marlies game. My son has Sunday's game. I then have all 3 games against Boston in a week. The Thursday Boston game will also have my sister, brother-in-law, niece and her boyfriend and some of my sister's inlaws as well as my son on the 200 level (my sister paid).

Yankees beat the Oreos 15-3 tonight. It was over early.
It was my turn to attend the Jays game tonight. Against the Boston Red Sox. When I last saw a game they were fighting for first place and playing pretty well. That all has changed. They are 4th place and under .500. A series loss to Seattle at home, a sweep by the Astros and a series loss to the Yankees has taken them out of it. Their offence has turned to shit and their pitching is hit and miss.
Today was no exception. First batter hit a HR and the game was effectively over. The Red Sox hit 5 home runs and were up 7-0 in the 4th. The Jays scored 2 on a HR in the bottom of the forth and the score stayed that way until the Red Sox got 3 more in the late innings. Final was 10-2. Unlike the Oreos score this one was theoretically winnable until late.

That's a crazy catch. The way he rolled and then put his glove out at just the right place and time, it's almost as if he intentionally did it to add some "flair". I guess maybe when he was rolling, he could've caught a glimpse of the ball as it was about to come to him.I did get to see this play:

My son and I were invited to a box at the Jays game by a friend (a friend of Mrs. IRBS but now a friend of us). It was a corporate box so we had unlimited food and unlimited drinks. We stuck to non-alcoholic coke but mainly because they didn't have Mikes Hard Lemonade. Alcohol would have also been free. We also got a Kirk bobble-arm (a bobble-head but with an arm that moves rather than a head).
Tonight's opponent again was the Boston Red Sox. The Jays started off like the Jays They were down 2-0 almost immediately and fell behind 6-0. It was bullpen day so pitching was questionable early. In the bottom of the 6th Varshio got his first hit of the year (he came off the IL Tuesday -- his catch was on his first day playing this year). The hit was a 2 run HR. Kirk followed with a solo shot. The inning ended Jays down 6-3. In the bottom of the 7th, Santander hit a 3 run HR to tie the game.
In the top of the 9th, still tied 6-6, Jays put on their closer Jeff Hoffman. He pitched a 1-2-3 9th. Boston put on their closer Chapman. He is the same guy who made himself famous with the Yankees. He also had a 1-2-3 9th.
In the 10th, Jays stuck with Hoffman. He had only pitched 10 or so pitches in the 9th so I guess they tried to stretch him. It worked. The Red Sox did not score. In the bottom of the 10th the Red Sox changed pitchers. They got Santander out but he managed to advance the extra innings free runner to 3rd. The Red Sox tried to pitch to Springer but after falling behind 3-1 they intentionally walked him and intentionally loaded the bases by walking Varshio to face Kirk. With the outfield in, Kirk hit what would have been a SF had the outfield been playing normally. The Jays won 7-6 in 10.
The box experience was incredible. We were right over home plate.
