I love this human bag of milk. She knows how to work the internet. Every few months she comes up with some new crazy take being outraged about how she was treated poorly for being a fatso. I give her a lot of credit for knowing how to keep herself in the news.

I notice now that I look but never noticed the difference. My signature still defaults to Calibri and I can't really tell the difference.

This news is a few months old, but I didn’t get the new font until they replaced my laptop with a new one at work last week.

Aptos. I don’t find it a bad looking font, but I ended up defaulting everything back to Calibri. Back to what I was used to seeing.
I just got an update to MS 365 yesterday. This is what I get:

The new font is a little bigger, and it's more fully formed, especially with the "s", "y", and the apostrophe. Also, the "l" looks more like a hockey stick than just a line. I guess I like it better, because sometimes I change from Calibri to something that has more style; and maybe now I won't have to.

Meh. I like a crisper font. The arms are too high and the spurs are too rounded on Aptos.
I'll probably change to Lucida Sans Unicode.

For the 1 year anniversary of our trip to Europe, I'm making a photo album; and I'm using Candara for a font on the titles and descriptions. Just in case you were wondering.

Our fonts are ok. We're lucky that we still have a site.
I don't think that our benefactor has visited the site in the last 5 or 6 years.
Another site used to suggest that all sarcastic posts be put in purple so they not be confused with serious suggestions. That would have worked here too.

I am also waiting for TSS to pick up the bill one day and say 'what the hell is this?'

Funny, but kinda the contrary.
He's been the factor that has kept us on-line all this time.

At some point common sense will win out over generosity and we'll either need to take over the bills and ownership, or find a new home.

I suppose if we ask the question, that makes it happen. but without asking the question, do you have any idea how much that cost would be per month? And in an unrelated question, did 98 provide his CC number when he registered?

Ryan Morris was spending $1,200 a month to maintain the XMFan site. That included the domain name, the server, tech support and insurance against libel and slander. The site included a link to the XMFan store and Ryan received a commission on sales of radios, antennas, shirts and caps but it covered only a very small portion of his expense. On May 10, 2020, after nearly 18 years, he shut the site down. He would not allow it to be archived.

I haven't asked the question, but since we don't do the web-store and we're a low traffic site, I don't think that we would cost $1,200 per year for servers and basic operation. Software upgrades every few years probably cost about the same. (Several years ago he told me that the day to day costs for the site are very low.) Aaron and I volunteer our time to moderate, check for spammers, etc., but don't have the skill-sets or extra time to implement software upgrades and deal with server maintenance.

I have no idea how much any website stuff costs but if that's even close to correct it would be pretty easy for us to all chip in a bit and keep this place alive if the time were to ever come to that.
