I just keep thinking that e-book readers will go the way of the laserdisc player or palm pilot.

Its a 1 trick pony whose trick can be done on a tablet with just 1 app. And the tablet can do other tricks too.

I think the e-raeders are going to evolve upward rather quickly. Look at all the stuff that the Nook does already. I think it will take tablets longer to come down in price to meet the e-readers value. I bet we'll see more advanced level android based e-readers/entry level tablets soon.

In a similar vein, the new NOOK:

NOOK - Award Winning, Bestselling eReader - Barnes & Noble

The Kindle is sucking hind tit these days.

IRBS, the reason that e-readers are popular is that reading is a very basic, very popular human activity. It's almost as if someone invented a device to electronically consume food or inhale oxygen. There are apps for things we do in small amounts, like play games or calculate tips. Something as important as reading gets its own device.

People are buying them (even one-time naysayers like me) so they must be doing something right.

Thought it was your wife's Kindle? ;)

It is and I've had very limited interaction with it.

From the small amount of time I've used it, I like it. But, I like it moreso because she likes it and doesn't bug me when she's reading. :yesshake:

Amen to that. Mrs Hectic is awesome and what have you, but sometimes she just knows I'm farting around on the DRC and every time I start to read a post, she starts talking to me. If she grabs her Kindle, I can catch up on my posts. :jj:

I saw the new Nook at a Books a Million yesterday. Suh-weet. Small, light, fast, great screen...it's not much bigger than a CD jewel case.
