According to New York Times reporter Isabella Kwai, "Swiss authorities have said that a fire in the bar caused a 'flashover,' which led to one or two explosions. A flashover occurs when all the combustible material in a room ignites and a growing fire turns into a fully developed one."

Flags in Switzerland will fly at half-staff for five days.

When you all were younger did you go to clubs?

In my teens and 20's that seemed like a nightmare and after that, like Chris Rock said, "you don't want to be the old guy in the club".

I would go every now and then if a smaller jam band I'd like was booked to play one but that was the only reason. I've probably been in about 20 for that reason alone.

It's a very different vibe.

Obviously, if I go back to my college days, I went to clubs all the time in both NJ and NYC. And when I got out of college, I went to clubs in Boston with work friends, back in '84-85. And then again in '95, when I was getting divorced.

Now we have clubs up here where they play grownup music, Like Jimmy's Jazz and Blues in Portsmouth, and Johnathan's in Ogunquit. I've also been to some of the small venues in Portsmouth to see friends play in local bands.

The Federal Cigar chain has a bunch of very nice lounges in Portsmouth and Dover NH. On Thursdays, the Dover one has live music. It's a huge place, like the size of a restaurant. I went there once on a Thursday, and found it was very "clique-y". Groups of friends - who were regulars there - would stake-out tables or seating areas. I sat at the bar. And that was the only time I went.

Ironically, I had friends who'd be the type to go with me, but they lived where I used to live in NH, and wouldn't drive up here on a Thursday night. I think now they would, but I don't hang-out with them anymore.

I don't know how this is happening but I really don't like how the uprising in Iran seems to be actively getting shut down.

This was probably as close as the people have been to a chance at freedom in my lifetime and somehow it's sputtering out.

I do not want to discuss anything that is inappropriate around here but despite their hemispherical difference I am very disappointed and I am not talking about my feelings towards the heroic protesters.

This article was in my Facebook memories for this day in 2019. Here's the updated article link.
You know those stories of people starving and dying of thirst in the desert and they see things that aren't there, like a pool of water. If I were lost in the desert, I'd swear I was going insane if I heard Toto randomly blasting across the sands.

The video in this article has a very real, unpleasant like 10 secs showing wounded protesters bleeding as they attempt to flee IRGC forces opening fire on their own people.

Anyway it's hard to tell what's going on over there. A few days ago I heard the regime and their IRGC had quashed the protests. Now today I'm hearing they are still going in full force. As far as I can tell Iran has two military branches ARTESH and IRGC.

To make a crude, elementary comparison: ARTESH is like the normal standing, army and the IRGC is like the Knights Templar. There have been major defections from ARTECH but IRGC has been holding true to the Ayatollah and regime and have been the ones firing on their own people.

Also............................. UN, ICJ and ICC.......................Hmmmmmmmmm.

My son found several memes of various sports teams capitalizing on this. The text of the meme was something like: "Sorry Nestle for your loss of all those KitKat bars. For the fans: tonight if you come to the game, all fans will receive a free KitKat bar". Small print at the bottom saying it was a joke and they will not get a free KitKat.

It was nice knowing you all!
Hopefully certain things don’t happen tonight and we’re left posting here tomorrow from a dystopian hellscape.

I should probably ban myself for bringing it up, but if we all get blown up I guess it doesn’t matter.
