IdRatherBeSkiing's Top 20 (Sunday, June 21st, 2020 version)

Looking for Clues - Robert Palmer
I keep forgetting about this one. Good song!
Lookin' for Trouble - Toronto
Lost Together - Blue Rodeo
Lotta Love to Give - Daniel Lanois
Hearing for the first time.
Lotta Love - Nicolette Larson
Wow that's a blast from the past! Reminds me of childhood #nostalgia
Love for Sale - Talking Heads
I'm gonna get more crap for saying this but I don't....think....I've heard this one before? Certainly not enough to remember it. And how did they get away with using all of those actual products, and scenes from actual commercials, in their video?

It didn't even reach the Hot 100. In fact, while looking, I see that "Once In A Lifetime", "Road To Nowhere", "Stay Up Late" and "Nothing But Flowers" didn't chart at all either. How odd, because I knew all 4 of those pretty well back when they were each released. Maybe they didn't qualify to be on the Hot 100? Aren't (or weren't) there some rules for it to qualify? Maybe those weren't met...

I think the only song that "charted" from "True Stories" was "Wild Wild Life". "Love For Sale" was the second single from that album. Got some airplay (at least here in Toronto) but never charted.

Today's ****

Lovers In A Dangerous Time - Bruce Cockburn
I suspect you may be more familiar with the remake of this by Barenaked Ladies.

Loves Me Like a Rock - Paul Simon

Low - Cracker

Lowdown - Boz Scaggs

Lucille - Kenny Rogers

Love Shack - The B-52's
Great but veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery overplayed. Like "Celebration", every wedding, corporate event, bat mitzah....
Love Stinks - J. Geils Band
Classic
Lovers In A Dangerous Time - Bruce Cockburn
First time hearing I think. Not sure I know the BNL version either.
Low - Cracker
Classic
Lowdown - Boz Scaggs

Lucille - Kenny Rogers
My step-father used to sing, "You picked a fine time to leave me, your seal." Like it's a letter from your pet seal. I didn't think it was particularly funny either. He was usually a lot funnier.

More ****

Luka - Suzanne Vega
Looking at the video, is Luka supposed to be the kid or the girl? I always thought it was a girl based upon the first person of the song. But the lyrics do work if it s a kid too.

Lyin' Eyes - Eagles

Macho Man - Village People

Magic Man - Heart

Magnet and Steel - Walter Egan

Can't hear "Macho Man" without singing this instead:

Coincidentally, yesterday my wife and son made the Japanese dessert Mochi using Macha Tea powder, so last night I was singing "Macha macha man".

Prince wrote Manic Monday and recorded the song in March 1984 with the trio Apollonia 6 singing backup. He didn't like their singing, though, and shelved the recording. It remained unreleased until June 7, 2019, when it appeared on the CD Originals. Manic Monday has also been recorded by Missile Command, Relient K, Ephemera, Leningrad Cowboys, Blue Penguin, Pop Disaster, the Yellow Melodies, Kate Rusby and Billie Joe Armstrong. Here is Prince's original version:
