I only remember it because it shows up on the VJ 40s for 1989 occasionally. Otherwise it's a forgotten hit."Call It Love" from Poco
Here's one I should know from the VJ 40s for 1982, but somehow I barely recognize it.Hold On - Santana
I never listen to 1989 countdowns which is why I have never heard it.I only remember it because it shows up on the VJ 40s for 1989 occasionally. Otherwise it's a forgotten hit.
To name a few. What, you got a problem with Milli Vanilli, New Kids, Debbie Gibson & new jack swing or somethin'?
Perhaps my favorite song of hers, and mostly overlooked. She'll be making an appearance on my list soon.Home - Sheryl Crow
Still amazed this song is only four sentences long (plus the chorus of "Holiday Ro-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-oad"). But I dig it too!Holiday Road - Lindsey Buckingham
First time hearing.Home - Sheryl Crow
Home and Dry - Gerry Rafferty
Holiday - Nazareth
This comment made me think of seeing KISS live in 1990 on the "Hot In The Shade" tour. What, you got a problem with Milli Vanilli, New Kids, Debbie Gibson & new jack swing or somethin'?
I would have screamed "YEAH - FUCK JANET JACKSON".This comment made me think of seeing KISS live in 1990 on the "Hot In The Shade" tour.
They were fresh off their biggest hit in a decade - the power ballad "Forever" - & Paul Stanley had a little stage rap he'd do about its success every night. I'm paraphrasing, but it basically went like this :
"THIS NEXT SONG WAS A BIG HIT - BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE RADIO DOESN'T WANNA PLAY KISS, BUT YOU'D CALL 'EM UP & MAKE 'EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'D TELL 'EM I'M FUCKIN' SICK OF HEARING MILLI VANILLI!!!!!!"
( cue several thousand people screaming some variation on "YEAH - FUCK MILLI VANILLI!!!!!!!!!!!" )
"YOU'D CALL IN & SAY MR. DJ...I DON'T WANNA HEAR ANY MORE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
( cue several thousand people screaming some variation on "YEAH - FUCK NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" )
"YOU'D TELL THOSE RADIO PEOPLE PLAY SOMETHING OTHER THAN JANET JACKSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
( crickets...cue several thousand people looking around, saying some variation on "I dunno...she's all right. I got no beef with her." )
I believe in the business this is known as "going to the well one too many times".
And now KISS has a reputation for using prerecorded vocals and backing tracks. This comment made me think of seeing KISS live in 1990 on the "Hot In The Shade" tour.
