Hurricane Season

I have never hunkered down and I have no intention of starting now. Also, I don't buy bottled water and I don't drink alcohol. But I thank you for your concern, Mister Aaron. Los Angeles County is under a hurricane watch for the first time in history. Rain is expected to begin here around 6 AM Sunday and continue till around 7 AM Monday. Weather forecasters say Hurricane Hilary could bring as much rain as we normally get in an entire year!

Are you “hunkering down” there channel98? Remember the usuals - keep lots of bottled water, keep an axe handy in your attic and buy lots of alcoholic beverages
HEY! No politics!!!!

Oh.
Sorry......

A lotta people died in Florida and Louisiana because they didn't take the storms seriously enough.
At least bottle your own water, stock up on some extra food, have an escape plan, and you can send us the booze if necessary, but be safe!

Hilary is now a category 4 hurricane but is expected to weaken to a tropical storm by the time it makes landfall here. Glendale is 16 miles from the nearest beaches, Venice and Playa Del Rey. That's the Venice in California, not the one in Italy.

Rain has been falling since 7 AM today. Heavier rain and strong winds are expected in the next few hours. Meanwhile, southern California had another earthquake. A 5.1 hit at 2:41 PM near Ojai in Ventura County. I didn't feel it. Ojai is 60 miles northwest of Glendale. The name comes from awha'y, a Ventureño Chumash word meaning "valley of the moon."

Glad you checked in, I’ve been having the weather channel on. I probably would have pronounced the j in Ojai

Isn't that floods and earthquakes 2 of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse?

IRBS, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are personifications of conquest, war, famine and death – but who's to say the deaths aren't caused by floods and earthquakes? Following today's earthquake, there have been five aftershocks of 3.0 or greater. The strongest was 3.6.

It's not raining as much as predicted here. But Hurricane Hilary is looking nasty above Phoenix. At least our temps are way much cooler.

This thread is usually about Aaron and occasionally Koop, but it looks like now scotch. Make sure your generator is fully charged and fully fueled. Looks like Hurricane Lee is coming your way. And it looks to hit ME as a hurricane not a tropical storm.

Right now my weather forecast just says rain/wind, but I'm not coastal.

Prepare for dangerous wind having possible significant impacts across coastal New Hampshire and western Maine. Potential impacts in this area include: - Some damage to roofing and siding materials, along with damage to porches, awnings, carports, and sheds.

who went from the Boston news market (when we were in the Boston media area) to the Portland ME news market, says it's not going to be that bad, according to Mrs. Scotch. So there's that. But our generator is connected to our home heating fuel supply, so I think we're all set. Plus, the generator doesn't need to be "charged".
