Matthew 8:23-27New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Calms the Storm
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

24 hours later and the storm track has moved west a lot. looks like it will hit my area. its still too early to be worried but its more of a concern today than it was yesterday.

if it still looks bad tomorrow it will be time to run out and get some supplies.
Get supplies now. You can never have enough Poptarts and Orange Crush.

He already has plenty of frozen waffles and Hungry-man dinners.
That stuff spoils when the power goes out, though. And you ought to heat them before eating.

Vienna sausages, Poptarts, peanut butter, all of that will see you through weeks without power. Mrs. Bag laughs when I come home with hurricane supplies, but 10 days without power and she's craving that blueberry filling along with everyone else.

yea the frozen dinners can all be eaten without any heat. downside is i just bought a bunch of chicken breasts and ground beef. if it looks bad tomorrow i may cook a bunch of it.

good news is in just the last 2 hours the projection map has moved to it just slightly hitting the coast near me.

supply run tomorrow morning. don't need much, just top off the car's tank, buy a few munchies and that's about it. i may go to my dad's place. his community has generators. not for all the individual condos but for the hallways and lobby/dining room area. the hallways are key because the a/c stays on an he can open his door to stay cool.

ok that map i posted above updates itself every 3 hours. the 11pm update moves my boca area from hurricane watch to warning. i'm going to bed now so i'll have to wait and see where it is sometime after the 8am update. this waiting and watching game is somewhat fun.

They're now predicting it will go out to sea in the Carolinas, so it will no longer affect my weekend in New England. You know, 'cause when it rains, we have to go around closing windows and all that.

the 8am update looks like it will hit west palm beach the hardest. that's about 30 miles north of me. it has also slowed down a bit. now they are saying friday 2am is when it will be closest to land. thats a change from last night when they were saying around thursday 5pm.

ideal scenario i get to watch an awful storm from the comfort of my place and i never lose power. but i am anticipating losing power and will have everything charged so i can keep myself entertained for at least a day or 2.

ok...who knows for sure how bad its going to be here but i'm prepared. i just filled my tub and a bunch of pots and pans with water and now i'm heading over to my dad's and i plan to ride it out there.

i also got some essential supplies. i already have plenty but a few snacks can't be a bad idea. these delectable items should probably go in the foodie thread:

thanks to meme i figured some pop tarts would be a good idea. and of course i am very health conscious so i got my baby carrots. publix was less crowded than i thought. on my way there i passed 2 gas stations that were packed. lines out into the street. but the station near me had a very short line. i only waited 5 minutes to take my turn filling up.

at my dad's they provide full lunch and dinner no matter what goes down so he will be able to bring some real food back to his place. when i get there i plan on filling a ton of various containers with water because i am not going to live in a condo where the toilet cant be flushed.
