In your location, do retail fireworks places magically appear twice a year the week before July 4th and New Years? It's like clockwork.

I like normal fireworks shows. But unfortunately they sell them around the valley. I wish they would be outlaw selling to the public. Idiots set them off all hours of the night and plus they scare my dogs.

I seem to have been really lucky. All my dogs seem immune to loud fireworks and thunderstorms, Occasionally the cat will seek shelter if the fire alarm goes off.

Every dog I had or been around is usually afraid of fireworks and thunderstorms. Currently my young pup doesn't seem to bother her? That was last year, we haven't had a major storms in a while. Fourth of July is basically next weekend.

Heee is the history of King Cake – and a recipe. The cake is decorated with green, gold and purple. It reminds me of Cyndi Lauper's hair.

I should add that we were unable to have parades in town in 2020 due to the pandemic and in 2021 due to Hurricane Ida damage.

I refuse to eat king cakes until they start putting real babies back in them again!
This whole “woke PC bakery” trend is robbing us of our culinary history.

While I don't agree with the bakers viewpoint, I agree with her right to express it. It's not like she is the only baker in town. I also would exercise my right to choose another for her expression of her opinion.

Yeah, while I don't like people refusing to serve gays, I wouldn't want to force some bigoted dickhead to make my cake. Go somewhere else, and hope this place goes out of business.

On a related note, whenever election season heats up, there are local businesses that inexplicably post big, obnoxious signs for one candidate, or one political side. Why would you intentionally drive half your customer base away? Anyway, we always keep a mental note, and avoid those businesses after the signs are gone.

While there are some group of people who do follow through on a boycott (once I decide to boycott I do because I am stubborn) a vast majority people are too lazy to change their routines for anything that does not directly affect them. These days politics are generally viewed as not affecting most peoples lives (except of course for the ones it does). Days of apathy.

Same. I boycotted Mobil for well over a decade. Used to go there all the time, even go out of my way for one. Then they said they were raising prices due to the the conflict in the middle east, then reported highest profits ever for a company in the history of the planet 3 years in a row (2004/2005/2006) and I said F THIS! Until last year, I probably went to a Mobil (or Exxon) a half-dozen times and only put a few gallons in, just enough to get me to another gas station. So they probably lost almost $10K from me. I wish there were more stubborn people. If 100,000 people did the same, that would have been a billion dollars.

The only flaw in your boycott is assuming the other oil companies (the ones you used instead of exxon) were also making the same profits. If you want to screw them, buy a Tesla .... but that may support the other guy you don't like now.

I'm done screwing them. I figure 15+ years later it's all different people in charge. And back in 2005 I wasn't gonna buy a Tesla, so I still had to buy gas. Just not from the most profitable customer-f'ers on Earth.
