Hanzi, Hpe And 30 Million

I know it's an odd perspective to look at this from, but Howard contributed to XM's growth by signing on with Sirius.
He gave a lot of credibility to the platform when he moved to Sirius.
It made a lot of people give satellite a second look as a viable entertainment option.
When I saw he signed on, I figured that he could do anything that he wanted to do, and that this satellite thing had more legs than I assumed.

I picked Sirius over XM because of the music first, and Howard was a bonus to me. So while a ton of the subs didn't sign up for Howard, I can see the argument for giving him more credit than the actual number that tune in to the show.
I can pretty much agree with all this. But Howard has often said - especially during the lawsuit - that he's just an employee of SXM. He says that a lot, like when shows get canceled, or the H100 News people got canned, or when someone's getting paid next to nothing. So it's hypocritical for him to randomly act like he's the CEO of SXM whenever it suits him. He's not a partner, or the creative director, or anything. He's just H100 and (minimally) H101, that's it.

What's sad is that, he's enough of a pioneer and innovator, that there's no reason for him to spew bullshit about taking credit for existing subscriptions, or implying that he has 30 million listeners.

This is bad but Hanzi has something of an excuse. He is a bit crazy. Howard used to be just as bad. He wished cancer on a number of people. He may have wished AIDS on some enemies. When he was at war with one radio rival and the rival's father died, I think Howard talked about fisting the father's corpse for a few weeks. When Joan Rivers' husband Edgar killed himself, Howard made some kind of a recurring joke about hollowing out Edgar's head and putting it on the front porch like a pumpkin. It was before Joan became a friend of the show.

Howard admits he lives by a double-standard. With that said, let's keep some perspective based in reality, not Stern-show reality. If you seriously go to someone and wish for both that his three kids die from AIDS and his wife is impregnated by a "dullard," you cannot be surprised to learn you are now persona non grata.

It's not like Hanzi is a rival radio host with another forum. He had one forum, THSS. The bridge is burned. He even got a reprieve when I thought the bridge was burned. He used it to definitively burn the bridge once and for all. Impressive...but stupid.

Every now and then in the distant past a caller would attempt to unsettle Howard by making a sexual comment about his parents or this first wife and maybe his daughters too. Howard was ready for them.. He could not be rattled or angered. I think it is different this time because Hanzi is not an anonymous caller. He is a whack packer, a friend of the show. Howard seems more disappointed than angered.

ok i just heard him on tuesdays show. i thought monday was just a big joke but i guess it did get to howard a bit. it is a bit annoying that howard has such thin skin these days. i did like how at least this all went down in the open. howard could have just stopped taking his calls and had us all talking about why he wont pick up on hanzi. at least now we all know the deal.
