Elvis Radio playlist

Here is another song we can add from the 1957 Loving You soundtrack. Let's Have A Party was written by Jessie Mae Robinson, who also wrote Patti Page's 1952 number-one hit I Went To Your Wedding. Wanda Jackson's version of Let's Have A Party reached #37 on the Hot 100 in October 1960.

 
Hard Headed Woman. Elvis Presley and the Jordanaires. Number one for two weeks in July 1958. (In Cash Box, it got to #3 behind the Coasters' Yakety Yak and Pérez Prado's Patricia.) It is inexplicably missing from the list. Please add it. Thankya. Thankya very much.

 
This is no treat. No treat at all. Another big hit is missing from the list. Treat Me Nice was the B-side of Jailhouse Rock – both songs were written by Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller – and reached #18 on the Top 100 in October 1957. It is hereby officially added. Elvis is backed by the Jordanaires. "Hep hep hep!"

 
Does nobody look at my lists very closely? (Don't answer that!) My Baby Left Me is not from 1975. It's from 1956. The song was written by blues singer/guitarist Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup. He recorded it on November 8, 1950. It was released in January 1951 as the B-side of Anytime Is The Right Time. The single failed to chart. Elvis recorded the song on May 4, 1956, and it was released as the B-side of I Want You, I Need You, I Love You.

 
Do you mean anyone other than myself? Apparently not. And here is another big hit missing from the list. Good Luck Charm, written by Wally Gold and Aaron Schneider, was number one for two weeks in April 1962. This says "Live." It isn't. It's the studio recording.

This list has been retuned to sender – that would be me – so I can add Return To Sender, which reached #2 on the November 17 1962 Hot 100 and remained in that position for five weeks, behind the Four Seasons' Big Girls Don't Cry. I have no idea how I managed to miss it. Elvis had 110 top-40 hits (including several re-issues of Blue Christmas), 38 top tens and 18 number ones. I think all are now on this list – but don't quote me. And I don't understand how Elvis keeps getting letters returned to him one day after he mails them. It would take at least two days.

 
How do I manage to include hundreds of obscure low-charting songs on these lists but omit some of the biggest hits? I have no answer. We can add Wear My Ring Around Your Neck, which reached #2 on the April 28 1958 Billboard Top 100 behind one of the most annoying songs ever recorded, David Seville's Witch Doctor. If a woman could wear a ring around her neck, it's either a very large ring.....or she has a really tiny head.

 
We can add Pieces Of My Life. This was written by Troy Seals, who also wrote or co-wrote Don't Take It Away, I Can't Love You Enough, When We Make Love, Seven Spanish Angels, Maybe Your Baby's Got The Blues, Red Neckin' Love Makin' Night and many other country hits. Pieces Of My Life was first recorded by Charlie Rich for his 1974 album The Silver Fox. Elvis's version, backed by the Holladay Sisters, peaked at #33 on the December 6 1975 country chart but failed to make the Hot 100.
