Do we include animated sitcoms?
Simpsons
I was thinking about that, then we might start nominating almost every other animated sitcom out there.

I think I rather make this madness theme non-aminated sitcoms and we can save that theme for another time.

Lots of great sitcoms on this list.

Do we need to qualify this as Night Court 1?

If so, I will add "Night Court 2" the current one.

I nominated the original, which ran for many years. The reboot has only aired part of 1 season. But in any case, it will just appear as Night Court, and people can decide for themselves.

Likewise, I'll nominate Mad About You. There was a reboot of that too.
I like the original and and rebooted version. Some people might prefer one over the other?

For me, I like Quantum Leap. But I think the reboot is almost as great as the orginal.

We could call them 1 and 2? But I’ll probably mark them down as the years as they aired.

By the way, I nominate both versions of Quantum Leap.

Does anyone remember Leslie Nielsen's 1982 Police Squad! series? It was hilarious but was canceled after only six episodes. Here is a scene that is reminiscent of Abbott & Costello's "Who's On First" routine:

I think we can consider The Simpsons, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Family Guy and Bob's Burgers to be sitcoms but I don't know if any other animated series would qualify. South Park, maybe?

There was an animated Beatles series, 1965-67. Paul Frees voiced John and George. Lance Percival voiced Paul and Ringo. The animation was terrible and the storylines were ridiculous – but Beatles fans didn't care.

As for now we have 70 nominations. There might be more, but I can’t tell if the videos are nominations or not.

We could go with what we have and eliminate 6 shows, to have 64? Or keep going until we figure out a new number.

I think C98 did several video nominations. I would interpret them as such. Police Squad was a nomination -- if not by him, by me.

And I second the nomination. The "complete series" – all six episodes – of Police Squad! is available on DVD and Blu-ray. "Cigarette?" "Yes, I know."

I found the Rolling Stone list that Listener mentioned. It includes several BBC, HBO and Netflix series. The Honeymooners, my favorite sitcom, ranked #8. "Alice, you're the type of person who would bend way over to pick up a penny on the sidewalk. I wouldn't." "You couldn't."

And we should add Maude, A Different World, Chico & The Man and What's Happening!! to our list of nominees.
