Mixed bag as far as my situation is concerned. Found a new contract with the same company that I'm in the process for a secret clearance. Paid off some credit cards that I practically lived off of during the first part of COVID, and got down to one that is still active while paying down one that was canceled (I'll probably re-apply for 1 or 2 more at some point in the future, but that's a LONG way off). Traded in the old car and got a new one that I like much better despite the loan being higher.

At this point, nothing's gone to collections since I got out of BK7 now 4 years ago, and that's been the big goal. Paying down credit card debt, and keeping up payments on the SUV is next on the list. Starting to save for a downpayment on a house as well.

My wife and son are still waiting for theirs. But will take forever to get through 2 postal services.
My wife got hers. Then she got another one. Apparently the first one was the first 2 Trump payments combined (yes she still wanted them) and now she just got the 3rd one. The money is just rolling in. My son also gets $600 from the Canadian government (tax refund) along with the above cheques from the American one.

Did the Canadian government do anything like the direct payments to all citizens who made under a certain amount like the US did?

Dude I know nothing about guitars but that thing looks sweet! Congrats on a cool purchase!

Now stop being a puss and get to band practice! Aren't you fully vaccinated? You have pretty much nothing to worry about. I read today that after getting both Moderna shots you are 94.1% protected. I assume it's similar for all the other brands of shots. I'm willing to take a 5.9% risk to get back to a normal life.

Thanks! They are very limited release, and I've been hunting for them for years.

I'm going to hold the 2 goons that aren't getting their shots hostage for a while.
If they can't be bothered to show enough courtesy, enough respect for the other guys to not want to risk getting them sick, they can wait.
I told them I'm following the CDC guidelines.

Sweet axes! I've never heard of Reverend Guitars.

I need to throw a little thing in here: I often surprise people with how little I know about gear. I play drums and guitar, but have very little knowledge (or interest) in the gear itself. Any old axe to strum or kit to bash is generally good enough for me. If I can write a song on it, and treat it rough on stage, I like it.

They have an extensive benefits payout for those who lost their job do to the pandemic. But my son is not employed (long story) so did not qualify.

And if you are part of the 5.9% your risk of a serious case are almost 0.

Thanks to the stimulus money, we decided to box in our screened-in porch, make it a room. Haven't started yet, but will soon. Wasn't getting any use out of it, and the screen got damaged in the last hurricane.
All of the stimulus checks we received went out the window within days. Two went to dog surgeries, and two went to car accidents. It's as if god knew I didn't deserve it.

Stay tuned for my latest Car Talk installment.

Thanks! They started in Detroit in the 90s and we’re pretty innovative. The side walls were molded resin, and the front and backs were basically Formica. Very light weight, resonant, played and sounded fantastic. In the early 2000s they switched to wood bodies and started making them in Korea, because they couldn’t keep building the plastic ones and keep the prices reasonable. The imported ones are still excellent, especially for the price. Reverend moved from Detroit to Toledo a few years ago, so it’s fun to watch how they are doing.
I really should have a basher or two in my collection that I don’t have to worry about, but it never seems to happen. I bought a Strat from a guy in 1989 or so for $75 or something that should have been perfect for that....I refinished it, modified it, gave it upgrades and a custom paint job.....so now I have to baby it.
It probably comes from not being a great musician, I compensate by worshiping the toys or something like that.
Those will probably look great as you smash them on the ground after a performance. Isn't that required if you are good concert guitarist?
Ha!
Um.....no.

Isn't that why you have insurance?
Pet insurance? Are you high?

And as far as auto insurance, there's that pesky $1,000 deductible, plus they don't pay the difference in cost when you go from a car with 150K miles to a car with 50K miles. They also don't pay for self-inflicted damage, like the one I will be describing in another thread.

I was referring to auto. In Canada they don't charge you the deductible if it was the other drivers fault. But a $1K deductable is a big chunk of change.
