It's definitely simpler to say. But it always made me think of Cinemax. And doesn't Cinemax have channels called Max-something? Plus, the content on HBO and HBO Max are mostly the same. In other words, most of the shows streaming on HBO Max are on HBO's scheduled airings. So to call one HBO and the other Max fails to make a connection between the two.
There has to be someone in marketing who's getting canned over this.
I knew about this earlier this. Maybe I should said something about it.
Max Changed Back to HBO Max on Wednesday
Good news for now, even though it's renamed. The Discovery content isn't going anyway for now. They will stay on there even though Warner Bros and Discovery going separating the companies.
Those are good points. I just liked the blue background on Max. Netflix is red, Hulu is green and Max was blue. Paramount is blue too.
I received this email today. HBO Max is unbundling from the Disney+ and Hulu package. I already subscribe to enough streaming networks. I might have to unsub some for a while.

My local cable company has cut several channels that we watch over the last month or so.
This week they cut the local NBC affiliate, all of the FX stations, all of the ESPNs, and a couple others.
They previously cut AMC, BBC, IFC, and a couple of others.
When we signed up, there were hundreds of free VOD movies to choose from.
Over the lase few months, the number that we can watch for free is down to a couple dozen.
They cut all of them and there wasn't even a reduction in our bill.
They pissed me off.
We just got the free 21 day trial of YouTube TV.
It looks like we'll be able to get most of our same channels and save a decent amount of money in the process.
We've only had it running for a couple of hours, but it seems pretty good so far. The interface is a bit odd/different, but I think that we can get used to it.
I like that we should be able to watch most of the things that we want without having to switch between apps.
I'm still going to check out some other services to see what else is out there and how the prices compare.

I'm looking at some long-range antenna ideas for local channels, for sports like the Broncos, Premier League and Sunday Night Football and then just subscribing to other on-demand services, possibly HBO Max , Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV+, Paramount+, Peacock and Hulu. All ad-free of course. Would save me a ton of money over what I would pay for a service like Hulu + Live TV or Youtube TV, and I wouldn't be paying premium prices just to watch sports and have to put up with incessant reruns on every other linear TV channel. Maybe F1.TV to fulfill my motorsports requirement, although I hear rumors of Apple acquiring the rights to Formula 1 for next year. F1 in 4K? Yes please!
I have not been able to access Apple TV Plus on my Android phone for a month. I'm logged in but it prompts me to free trial when I select a program. Don't know it's true., but I was told that Apple TV Plus no longer works on Android phones anymore, you need an I phone. If true, I just have to watch more HBo Max Max instead.
I don't have any apple devices, but I can now select Apple TV + shows through our Amazon Prime video streaming service. It works on our TV, but I imagine it would work on our phones too. I don't know if you have Amazon Prime video, but that would be a solution.
They only introduced Android capabilities six months ago, don't see any reason why it wouldn't work now. You can either try rebooting the device(s) that's having the issue, or uninstalling and reinstalling the app. The same thing has happened to me on occasion, and I have Apple devices, it also isn't just with the Apple TV app.
I guess all I had to do was sign out and sign back in

That is a very interesting option, Wolf especially the NFL and Wrestlemania content. Plus, I could watch the college football playoffs. I would think some people who subcribe to internet cable options just for sports would consider this. Fox One is also starting on 8/21 which would include B1G Network. I'm looking at that maybe. Plus Big 12 football will be carried on my HBO Max
I hardly watch college football and the NFL could be a great feature. I already have access to the WWE PLE events on Peacock. I used to have the ESPN bundle with Disney and Hulu. When I updated my subscription package in to include Max. I eliminated the ESPN to save money and been without it. I'm somewhat interested in this new ESPN app. If this same feature is in the Disney/Hulu bundle, I may do it again. Plus, in a few days on August 15th my HBO and Disney bundle is separating. I won't know what will happen and I haven't updated my streaming subscription yet for these. I prefer my renewed dates to be on the 1st of every month. I might be without HBO Max for couple of weeks.
Then again if these packages are separating, I may do that yearly package I do for Peacock and Paramount. I saw Max and Disney has that, instead being billed every month unlike Apple and Netflix.
