I wish I got a good picture of the truck driver, he was a really nice guy. From northern Vermont, with a heavy beard, and a Gulf war vet; he slept in Kittery overnight. He's a regular driver for the post & beam company, and he had a lot of good truckin' stories.

The time has come, they're assembling the post & beam frame!

They got the 1st floor frame up, and the deck for the upstairs area


The factory uses a huge, computer-controlled, German milling machine, to make all the complex shapes, notches, cuts, and joining pieces. There's no hardware used in the frame connections.


Viewed from the driveway, you can see truck #2, carrying the SIP wall panels, the house siding, and ceiling decking.

This part goes fast watching the shell go up.

We stop by about every other day, although we were there last Wednesday and twice on Thursday, when most of the frame went up. We stay for a half-hour or so. It's actually useful, as the GC or foreman usually has some info to pass along, or a question for us. I don't ask many questions; I'm not one of those second-guessing a-holes who needs everything explained to them. I'm glad they're very experienced, and know exactly what they're doing.

We've been warned by the GC that progress will not continue to be as evident as it is now.

All the SIP walls over the post & beam frame are up. The open back and garage will be stick-framed on site. It's looking a lot like a house now.

I like the big window(s) on the second floor. It's really starting to look like a proper house. Throw a tarp over the top and you could move in right now.

Yep. The second floor goes only halfway across. The living room is 2 stories high.
